This vendor (Melissa Baldwin) is the rudest and most unprofessional person I have had the misfortune to deal with. When I questioned the progress of my order 11 days after placing it, her response was nasty and condescending -- going as far as pointing out a misspelling in my email. A small person with a small business. What a shame for Etsy. I will be returning my order because I want nothing to do with this woman or her products. Awful.

Seller beware - this buyer is demanding and immature. My side of the story: the item shipped exactly 6 business days after it was ordered. She reached out to me inquiring about the item and less than 24 hours later, opened a case against me that I never responded and that she'd been waiting 2+ weeks for her item. I immediately refunded her order and then pointed out she didn't give me much time to respond to her inquiry, and also that it had been only 9 business days since the item was purchased. I have been on Easy for 10 years and maintained 100% positive feedback, I'll let that speak for itself. She states above that she will be returning her order, but I have yet to see anything.

The Elf and the Pearl

I was working as an Art Director in advertising when I discovered letterpress in 2006. I was planning my wedding. I had a hard time finding a local printshop with a letterpress, and once I did, I couldn’t find anyone that wanted to print my own design. So, I started lurking around some letterpress forums and eventually tracked down a guy in my area with lots of letterpresses. So many, in fact, he needed to sell a few to make room. Knowing virtually nothing about the letterpress printing process, I purchased a Golding Pearl Improved from him. Luckily, the press broke down into three somewhat manageable pieces and my husband and two of his unlucky friends hauled it into our basement.

I bought a book on letterpress printing. And I continued to lurk around the forums. Over the next year, I taught myself how to print. I won’t say well, because when I look back at the first thing I successfully printed – and I use that term loosely – it was garbage. Unfortunately, the first thing I ever printed was my wedding invitations. I guess it was good the theme of the wedding was ‘rustic’ because that’s what the invitations implied.

I quit my job in 2008 to stay home with my daughter. Best. Decision. Ever. It allowed me more time with my daughter and more time to devote to growing my letterpress business. Over the next five years, I have learned from my mistakes and improved my technique. I have to say that I am so proud when I ship a job and it looks amazing.

I can’t believe I figured the damn thing out.

UNDERSTANDING ARTISINAL PRINTING: I print on a cast-iron letterpress that was built in 1911. I hand-feed the press and use hand-mixed inks that vary slightly from batch to batch. Letterpress is a historic printing method. Each piece that I print will be subtly unique. Letterpress printing is not an exact science so subtle variations in inking, color, impression and position are to be expected. These small variations are part of what makes letterpress beautiful. I am fully committed to providing the highest quality invitations and announcements, and I stand by the quality of my product. If you are not satisfied with my product for any reason within my control, please do not hesitate to contact me.
