Watercolor painter of landscapes

I started painting with watercolor at Black Hills State University in 2005, during my first watercolor painting class. We explored all different sorts of techniques and my professors were all very supportive of me trying out new ideas. In my senior year, I did a few independent studies in watercolor, exploring collage techniques with large watercolor landscapes. After a few years running a non-profit gallery I went back to painting and opened my business, Elissa Sue Watercolors.

Painting landscapes has always connected me personally to my own memories and personal attachments to important places in my heart and past. I love the idea that a little window of a world I create transports another human to the landscape, either real or imagined.
