Michelle designed this specially for me, and it's the perfect length and size to flatter my face. I asked for a spike because it looks badass, and it totally does! Tempered by the blue agate for a feminine touch. Absolutely in love.

I initially bought this necklace at the Parkdale Flea market when Michelle was there as a vendor and I had to come back to get another one for a close friend 'cause I loved it so much! Beautiful design, well-made and affordable. I ordered it and it was shipped (for free in Canada) within 2 days. I'm not one to shop online but Michelle made the entire experience seamless and easy!

I wanted to create pieces of jewellery that were just as unique as each individual I met and worked with.

Although I absolutely love my profession as a teacher, it is so easy for me (and a lot of other teachers) to fall into the trap of our work taking over our lives. I bring my marking and lesson planning home to do after work on weekdays. During my days out, I see things that inspire me on different lessons for my students that are fun and engaging, but still educational. I love being creative and hands-on, which one aspect that lead me into teaching in first place. Although teaching keeps me busy, I wanted to get my creative juices going and be more creative in other areas in my life. I took it into my personal style, which is the the biggest part of a blog I had created.

Another form of creativity that I've enjoyed doing casually was creating jewellery. Some of the best gifts were the ones where I received beads when I was a child. I would DIY bracelets and necklaces for myself in junior high and high school. I received feedback from friends of them wanting me to make them pieces as well. It was all fun and games back then, but I had to take a break once I was in university. Lately, I've been itching to get back into it as another additional creative output for myself that I truly enjoy that gives my mind a break from thinking of all things related to teaching.

I knew it was time to get back into it now when I received an email from Etsy in my mailbox regarding the Etsy Resolution program (online lessons with homework and readings, which help in the grand scheme of things). I've learned a lot about business and marketing, especially since my educational background is in the sciences. Part of me feels like this was a long time coming. Although I'll be busier than ever, I'm excited with there this roller coaster will take me.

The inspiration behind my line of jewellery is the idea of "the imperfectly beautiful" using primarily stones, quartz, and Swarovski crystals. I love how quartz, crystals and stones are naturally jagged, asymmetrical and unique from each other. The differences make them individually beautiful, which reflects my opinion of people. Combined with other materials, you have a group that is special and different from others.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalised orders

If there is a specific colour Swarovski crystal you would like to be replaced with the current colour in any piece of Jewellery, please message me with a colour swatch that you are looking for and I will see if I can find that colour to match. If it works out, I will continue the process by creating a custom listing for your personalized order.

Please note that if you do ask for a specific colour that I don't currently have, it will take more time to create your piece of jewellery, because it will take me time to acquire it. I will stay in contact with you and keep you posted as I go through the process of buying the materials, creating your custom piece, and shipping it off to you.

Sizing details

All pieces of jewellery comes with a small extension chain at the end so you can change the length of it when you wear it. If you feel uncomfortable with the possible length and would like to have it changed to be longer/shorter, please contact me before purchasing to determine whether or not it is needed and if I do then I will create a custom listing for you.

Care instructions

As much as I would take it as a compliment if you were to wear your piece of Elixir Chic Designs jewellery everywhere and anywhere, please remember that it is not indestructible. I have tested my samples with my kindergarten students and they have lasted, but here are a few ways you can take care of your jewellery:

1. Avoid pulling and tugging.
2. Keep it stored carefully.
3. Keep it away from direct sunlight and heat (just in case for the metal hardware's sake).
4. Try not to wear it too long if you know you will be sweating a lot.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All orders currently come with a jewellery pouch, just because it helps keep shipping costs lower (and shipping is on me). If you would like your piece of jewellery in a box instead and/or with custom stationary, please send me a message through Etsy or email at elixirchicdesigns@gmail.com and I can create a custom listing for you after we work on the details. Please note that the custom listing will have a shipping cost included, which I will determine at the post office and communicate with you how much it will cost before I put up the custom listing. Also, it will take more time to ship, because it takes time to acquire the box and to have custom stationary created for you.

Wholesale availability

If you would like more than 10 pieces of the exact design created, I will be able to accommodate you. Prior to your purchase, please contact me through Etsy or email at elixirchicdesigns@gmail.com so I can work out a wholesale price for you and create a custom listing for you.

Shipping to Canada

I currently cover shipping to Canada and your item will ship in a padded envelope as letter mail. If you prefer to have your item shipped through another method, please contact me through Etsy or email me at elixirchicdesigns@gmail.com and I will determine the shipping cost for you. If you're okay with the price, I can create a custom listing for you, which will have you pay for your chosen method.

Shipping to USA

Currently, I won't be able to ship to USA on a regular basis (there is paper work I need to fill). If you are from the States and would like me to ship to you, just send me a message through Etsy or email me at elixirchicdesigns@gmail.com, and I can work something out with you. It may require a custom listing where you will have to cover the shipping costs.

Shipping Internationally

Currently, I only ship to Canada (all orders) and USA (orders that have contacted me before paying; please refer to "Shipping to USA" FAQ). Sorry for the inconvenience this caused you if you are not from North America.
