Love these carrots! Great glossy print-and love how the back of postcard has all the artist's info.

About

Potápka Press

Welcome to Potápka Press, the print shop run by Elizabeth Claire Rose. I have been creating printed artwork since 1999 and specialize in fine art intaglio editions - etchings. From start-to-finish, I hand-craft and publish my original artwork from hand-drawn etched copper-plates. My shop has been based in Missoula, Montana and is currently in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

To make my traditionally crafted intaglio prints or etchings, I hand draw my original designs on a resin coated metal plate. Once drawn, the plates are etched in ferric chloride. The ferric chloride etches the drawing deeper into the plate. Once the resin or "ground" is removed, the plate is ready to be printed. The plates are smeared with etching ink, wiped clean, and printed onto archival paper using an etching press. I often create multiple plates to layer onto one finished work, with all of the plates completely drawn & printed by hand. Additionally, I use other printmaking techniques such as chine colle, monotyping, letterpress, wood cuts, and relief rolls, as well as various photographic media.
