Announcement   ~~~Artisan jewelry handcrafted in the South~~~

Pemsel and Vess' jewelry is carefully made by hand in a small in-house studio in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Each piece is a graceful marriage of past and present, either through classic styles or actual vintage pieces incorporated into new, hand-forged, boutique-quality jewelry settings. I love blending contemporary, but classic, trends with antique elements that have stood the test of time, ultimately breathing new life into these aged jewelry findings. Any P&V jewelry that incorporates vintage components is unique and often one-of-a-kind. Therefore I am typically unable to replicate these designs more than once. The only exception is dead-stock vintage brass, of which there is few, but nevertheless, extremely limited supply. :) Much of this shop's listings are comprised of entirely new materials, but still fabricated to have a classic look that never goes out of style...just like your Grandmother's pearls! All new components used must adhere to Pemsel & Vess' stict "truth in materials" policy. This means only real metals such as raw solid brass (lead- and nickel-free) chosen for it's unique nature of developing a gorgeous aged patina with time, as well as silver, gold, genuine gemstones, woods, glass, leather, silks, and cotton. Customers can rest assured there are no cheap plated base metals, no rhinestones, and no plastic components in any of my new materials. Any oxidation (for contrast and patina) of metals is done in a completely organic, eco-friendly, and chemical-free manner.

About

Made-in-the-South Jewelry House: Pemsel & Vess

Well Hello! My jewelry studio is based out of the Sunshine State on the Atlantic Coast in the quaint but charming little town of Green Cove Springs...A lot of my inspiration comes from beautiful countrysides, the ocean, art, colorful botanical gardens, and other local natural elements. Ideas also stem from classical figures in history and fiction, such as trying to imagine what certain characters might have worn, then adding my take with a modern twist. As a native Southerner, I LOVE things that have a history: anything that has its own unique background and story. I think that's why treasure hunting for vintage items is so appealing to me! One of the wonderful things about coming across gorgeous antiques and vintage items is that you know they are well made and have already stood the test of time, and will continue to do so. Plus the inimitable beauty of an authentic patina is something I find so timeless and breathtaking. I have a weakness for vintage jewelry relics, tastefully married with new components and artfully crafted into gorgeous, one-of-a-kind, contemporary boutique-style jewelry. I prefer incorporating a distinct 'pedigree' into each piece of jewelry that I make, so that wearers can appreciate the individuality each item offers, instead of donning products of mass replication. ;) Nearly all pieces are one-of-a-kind or very limited edition. I am also a major believer in the concept of truth and honesty in materials. When selecting new 'ingredients' for my jewelry, I only use real, quality metals such as solid natural brass, sterling silver, and 14K goldfill...all lead and nickel free. I never select cheap, toxic base metal alloys or plated metals that often chip and scratch away. My metals are also never chemically oxidized. If I am designing a piece to have an aged look or a certain patina, I use a natural, organic process. I also select real stones, wood, glass...naturally beautiful, quality materials. Trends may come and go, but classic style is forever. Look for more of these items to make their way into my shop as I expand my store! Thanks again for stopping by! :)

My love of designing and crafting jewelry by hand started as a little girl when my artsy aunt introduced me to her own masterpieces and taught me the 'tricks-of-the-trade' so to speak. This affinity has continued to stay with me ever since...
