About

The Story of Elliott E.

When Amanda moved to Asheville in '04, she was immersed in a city full of artists and crafters. A painter fresh out of college, Amanda began redesigning thrift store finds into one of a kind garments. Soon she met Moe Donnelly (Sew Moe) and did fashion shows and craft fairs with her. Her designs became more experimental and involved. Then she met Sara Legatski, owner of Honey Pot on Asheville, who began selling Elliott Elephant designs in her shop.

From there Amanda has made countless garments (and more recently jewelry) always making sure everything is one of a kind and recycled or upcycled in some way. Elliott E moved the studio down to Tallahassee, Florida back in 2009 but with graduate school starting, had to take the back burner for a while. Now that school is over, Amanda is a new mom and so elliott e is once again pushed to the "rare spare time" back burner once again. It is the love of crafting that has sustained the little shop here on etsy.

Elliott Elephant the name came from Amanda's love of Elliott Smith and a cute little elephant her friend Chris Sedgwick drew when they were housemates.
Sometimes she thinks the name sounds like she should be selling kids clothes and maybe one day she will re-brand.

For now Amanda's not taking herself too seriously and just making fun unique things to make her customers feel as beautiful as they are on their most beautiful days.
