Announcement    Long ago, when the world was new but magic was already ancient, the doors between the human realm and the Elphame were open, and humans walked easily between their world and the world of the fairies. But an open door can be passed through from both directions, and just as humans could go to and fro, so too could giants, trolls, dragons, and all manner of terrible and monstrous beasts.

So it was that the Sparrow King, the oldest and most mysterious being of all fairykind, in order to save the human world from destruction by magical beasts it did not understand, closed the gates between the human realm and Elphame forever.

Though the worlds are now separate, cracks remain where the gates once were. If you look closely, you may just see these cracks glinting on the horizon at dusk, as the last pink light of day slips away. And if you were able to peek through these cracks, you would see glimpses of the wonderful, colorful, magical, and sometimes dangerous world of Elphame, and the fairies and elves who are small enough to slip unheeded through these cracks between worlds.
