Unparalleled Fabric Oddities
Sometime between the obscene number of birthday party invitations my daughter received in the first years of school and the onset of machine embroidery addiction, my fabric stash achieved sentience and threatened to engulf my entire home.
In 2006, I registered my business Elven Hands in self-defence.
The first few contacts I made in the initial year made it very clear I needed a tagline to describe what I do. But how to group items so disparate as dream-pillow covers, cloth diapers, fabric boxes, and fortune cookies? And how to do it succinctly?
Then I received my sewing club newsletter and Winter class schedule: "UFO club." After that, the biggest difficulty was nailing down just how many Ls are in "unparalleled"!
Owner, Maker, The Elf
I jumped into entrepreneurship with both feet in 2006 because my little kids needed me "on call". Now they're teenagers, and my favourite people in the world. I still work at home, still make stuff, and still comb my hair with an egg-beater.
Accepted payment methods
For custom orders: Contact me through Etsy to discuss details and deadlines.
Cancellation of an order: I interpret a lengthy period of silence and lack of response to my communications efforts as an unwillingness to complete our transaction. I will attempt to contact you through Etsy once a week. If I don't get a response or unautomated message from you at the end of three weeks, I will consider our transaction cancelled. If I have issued a full refund on a deposit, I reserve the right to list for general sale the item you had ordered, with monogrammes and personal information redacted.
I also reuse good, strong boxes for shipping materials. It helps keep my shipping prices down - what you pay for shipping is what it costs to ship. I will use new materials at your request. If an item is a gift to be sent to an address other than yours, please tell me so in the buyer's note so I can dress it up.
Refunds and Exchanges
No refunds or exchanges on pads and diapers, for obvious reasons.
Please review the images I provide in custom listings to make sure what you've asked for is what you wanted me to create for you. The item posted in a custom listing is YOUR item, not a stock photo. Contact me before you complete the transaction if you feel there is something amiss with that item.
I use sturdy packing materials, and what I make is not fragile. I don't consider damage to the packing materials as damage to the items themselves. A large custom order will be shipped with insurance. Contact me if you are worried your item is lost in shipping, or if it's been damaged.
If you have purchased an item in my store that I no longer have in stock, the error is mine. I will offer you another version of that item, or a complete refund.
