Ever since I can remember, art has been a constant companion in my life. From playing the piano, violin, and harp as a child, to immersing myself in books and photography in my teens, my artistic passion has only grown stronger.

Alongside this passion, I pursued an education in politics and social health, with a special focus on human rights, disability, and women's issues. My interest in and dedication to these matters is long-held and personal, stemming from my own experience with illness and disability. I have had health problems since childhood and have multiple sclerosis, alongside other conditions.

My foray into lampworking and glass art began in 2006 when a friend sparked my interest in this mesmerising craft. I dived headfirst into the world of jewellery-making, starting with a small home studio that expanded as I honed my skills and invested in advanced tools. Though I initially sold my work to support my hobby, it soon transformed into a business. I took a break from lampworking in 2010 for health reasons and returned to university to study post-graduate computer science.

I also pursued my interest in silversmithing, which eventually led to Rebecca Cordingley Jewellery.

My commitment to supporting handmade craftsmanship extends beyond an appreciation for the artistry itself. I believe in the ethical and environmental benefits of buying handmade, as many creators are conscious of their materials' origins and their work’s impact on the world. I strive to use recycled and reclaimed materials in my pieces whenever possible.

Handmade creations have a special charm that sets them apart from mass-produced items. They may not be absolutely flawless, but their unique imperfections reflect the time, skill, and heart put into them by the artist. Knowing that the pieces I create are one-of-a-kind brings me immense satisfaction.
