The pleasure I had unwrapping these beautiful trays was quite unrivalled. And I am still enjoying them every day. They are beautifully made, an example of perfect craftsmanship. I am going to order some more another time. Janet's service was personal, professional and always on time. Thank you again, Janet. And thank you for the lovely goodie, too. I love everything about my trays (but not the one with the bills in it!).

I purchased the notepad holder as a gift for my sister. Emboxed was great to deal with - fast, friendly communication and service. I think my sister's words on receiving the folder say it all: n n"Seriously that is the most amazing thing ever!!!!! I am sooooooooooo in love with it!!!! And as I said to mum "this has made my life!!" thank you thank you!!!!!!! It is amazing!! You are the best ever. I am so in love with it."

Great Storage in Such Little Space

Squeezed for space in a small appartment, and not able to find what I needed in local shops, I started to make for myself storage for well - every room in the apartment.

Soon lots of friends were interested too. It seemed lots of people had the same problem with in-efficient and ugly storage.

Then the news spread and I was soon making up storage items for private clients and boutiques in Paris. Items customised exclusively for them!

Et voila. Still small today, but, giving great attention to detail and great customer service.

" Even before the item arrived, I knew I would not be disappointed, because of Janet's professionalism. When the box arrived, I was struck by the fine work, as well as the wonderful colors"

All our products are made using the tradtional French technique called "Cartonnage" - or the art of making decorative boxes from cardboard.

It was started around 1844 in Valréas in the Vaucluse by a hairdresser, Ferdinand Revoul. He came up with the idea of making cardboard boxes to be used in the silk worm industry. The boxes were intended to store silk worm eggs or seeds. His boxes were such a success that he decided to make boxes for other uses.

Soon he could not cope with orders so started to train others. Valréas carved itself a well-known reputation in the field of "cartonnage". His factory and printing works were constructed in 1871-1872 and he went on to invent the "ventilated box" for the conservation and dispatch of silk worm eggs. In 1857 he took out a patent for a "self-closing box" and at the 1863 Nimes exhibition was presented with a medal for his innovations.

From then on chemists, jewellers, and perfumers became interested in his decorative boxes to present their wares.

Cartonnage is still flourishing at Valréas; a museum has been opened and there is a training section for "Cartonniers" at the local technical school.

So following in the footsteps of Revoul, we make up all of our boxes from scratch one at a time. No machines are used in the process and the results are truly magnificent.
