Video summary: This is my silver process. I like to create unique handmade jewelry to wear in a daily bases.

The Beginning of Everything

I was introduced to the world of jewelry making in 2003 at the age of 15 when I met a group of traveling jewelry makers. The journey started in Xalapa - my hometown - in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. It’s a big state, very green, and with amazing jungles, rivers, beaches, and incredible places to camp out. My new friends showed me simple beginner techniques with which I created my very first pair of earrings. From there I was hooked. I began to travel myself, and met more and more traveling jewelry makers. At some point along the way I realized I was now one of them! Suddenly I was selling my creations all around Mexico, Central America, and into South America.

While I was traveling and creating my jewelry, I became really interested in learning where all the natural stones that I was using came from. I began to take interest in the local mines - direct to the source! My first mine was the amethyst quartz mine located close to Xalapa. That visit changed the way I see everything. Seeing the gems glistening right where they were formed was a huge inspiration for my jewelry-making, and opened my eyes further to the beauty of not only the gems I use, but the natural world we live in.

Over time, I've learned other techniques such as macrame with Brazilian wax string and leatherwork. Through it all, however, gems and metalsmithing have always remained my passion. The network of amazing jewelry makers I have made through my travels have always, and will always, inspire me to keep creating and to keep honing my craft. I'm so grateful to have met them. Today I’m happily based in Portland, Maine, and still keep in touch with those I met in the early days.

Can I get a wholesale order from Emetaly Designs?
Yes you can! For pricing and custom pieces, contact me at emetalydesigns [!at] gmail.com for more information.

Silver Care Instructions:
Frequent/constant use of the jewelry will actually prevent tarnish. If tarnish does occur, however, you can clean it with a silver cleaning cloth, or simply using a baking soda, lime, and dish soap mixture.

Stainless Steel Care Instructions:
Like the silver jewelry, frequent wearing or use of the stainless steel pieces will enhance the shine. The stainless steel may become discolored simply from debris, which can be easily wiped off with soap and water.

Can you make a custom piece?
Absolutely! I'm happy to. Contact me through Etsy's messaging system or send me an email at emetalydesigns [!at] gmail.com.

What is your packaging/shipping like?
I make sure each individual item sent is well-wrapped and secure in order to avoid any damage to your piece. I offer free standard delivery on all items. If you place your order before 12pm, your package will be shipped same day. You may choose to pay for priority mail or one-day delivery; please contact me beforehand if doing so.

What if my product is damaged during shipping?
If your product arrives damaged I will exchange or fix it at no cost to you beyond shipment costs.

What if I damage my product?
If you break or damage your product, please contact me to set up the proper reparations. If your stone is damaged, I can replace it with as similar of a stone as I can find. The buyer would have to pay for the cost of the replacement stone. Contact me for more details about repairing, resizing, and remaking. Shipping costs apply.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes I do! Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer for international purchases.

How can I know these pieces are handmade?
Check out some of my videos of how I make all my pieces on my Instagram! :) @emetalydesigns

If I want a different stone, would you be able to provide that for the piece?
Happily. It is possible I may have the perfect stone for you readily in my inventory, but if not, the procurement of the new stone may take 2-3 week's time.

Can you make me a custom piece with one of my own stones?
Yes I can! I'm happy to design a custom piece for your stone. Please reach out to me so we can discuss this further. Etsy's messaging system or email at emetalydesigns [!at] gmail.com work perfectly.

Where do you get your gemstones from?
I have stones from all around the world: Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, USA, China, India, Africa, Europe, Australia, etc. My stones are sourced with minimal "middlemen" in order to ensure their authenticity. Many of the stones I have found myself directly at the mines!

What does Emetaly mean?
'Emetaly' is an indigenous word from the Mayans which means 'metal-work'.

Where is this technique from?
I learned this technique through my travels and upbringing in Mexico. It is a combination of indigenous techniques from Mexico and Peru, with some inspiration from various other cultures.

Can you gift-wrap my purchase?
Of course! Please send me a message so I know what the occasion is. I would be happy to make sure your purchase gets the perfect presentation for your loved one. Extra charges may apply.
