Discover a world of knitting patterns, yarns and creations with a joyful heart...

After teaching herself to knit over a decade ago, then discovering crochet soon after and getting - literally - hooked, Emmaknitty was started by avid maker Emma Munn (me) during my maternity leave, and born out of a love of fun and a passion for creating and spreading joy and forging friendships through crafting.

As a knit and crochet designer with a background in graphic design, I am constantly inspired by what's around me, from flowers and tropical fruit (pineapples rule) to Japanese culture and kitsch, and I believe that simplicity and is the key to creating something beautiful. Emmaknitty is best described as being modern, cosy, neutral with a splash of brights and always with an eye on trends. All Emmaknitty creations are filled with fun, and each has a name and a cool story to tell!

What's more, being eco-friendly and kind to our planet is an important part of what Emmaknitty represents. I'm proud to use recycled packaging when possible and keep the use of plastics to a minimum. As well as this, the vast majority of Emmaknitty blankets are created using yarns that are already available rather than buying specifically for each item. That way you can be sure that your handmade item has as been lovingly keeping our waste imprint to a minimum.

I hope my work inspires you in whatever you do!

Frequently asked questions
How do you package your items?

The welfare of our planet is an important part of Emmaknitty's ethos, and this is an important step to minimise wastage, lower our footprint and keep packaging costs down for the buyer.

All yarns are sent in recyclable plastic packaging in order to keep P&P costs as low as possible. Merchandise and small items are sent in 100% recyclable cardboard mailboxes which fit easily through your letterbox.

I also encourage you to recycle or reuse the packaging yourself!

I've downloaded a knitting pattern and I don't understand it. What should I do?

Before you purchase any patterns, please check that you understand all the terminology and skills needed.

All this information is clearly stated on the item listing information page, along with the yarn, tool, notions and pattern description.

If you fail to read the description before you purchase I am sadly unable to offer any assistance. Please make sure you know all the techniques you will need to complete the pattern before you buy.

Can you mail me a knitting pattern that I've purchased from you?

Unfortunately I don't offer this service. All knitting patterns are sold in digital, high-quality 300dpi .pdf format and ready to be printed by the customer.

Where is your merchandise produced?

All Emmaknitty merchandise is designed by me digitally using the Adobe suite and then professionally printed in the UK or Spain depending on availability.

Care instructions

All Emmaknitty blankets are machine-washable - busy care-givers will appreciate this! - and can be washed at 30· and tumble-dried on a low setting. Do not use bleach on the blankets or use harsh detergents and it is recommended that you dry your blanket flat to avoid stretching it out.

Sizing details

Exact measurements of all blankets are indicated in the product description of the item, but usually fit into these categories: XS (security blanket), S (stroller), M (crib) to L (lapghan/toddler).

Lapghan-sized blankets are also ideal for adults!

Shipping

Shipping for blankets is charged at a flat rate from Spain depending on where you live. Items are sent untracked to keep costs down, but if you would prefer I can send your goods tracked and signed for. Please contact me to arrange this as shipping costs will increase.

Shipping costs are as follows;

Spanish peninsula: €7;
EU/United Kingdom: €13.

If you are located outisde of the UK/EU and would like to purchase an item, please send me a message to discuss how shipping costs may change.

Blanket Composition

The types of fibres used for each blanket vary, but all details are given in each product's description.

I tend to avoid making blankets made from 100% untreated wool as they are difficult to machine wash and can be harsh on baby's skin. If wool is used I stick to superwash wool which can be machine washed, is soft and smooth and is more delicate on children's skin than untreated wool fibres.

If you have an allergy to wool or any other material and would like to purchase a blanket, please send me a message to check what materials are available.

Yarn Tarts

All Yarn Tarts are made of leftover/scrap yarn. The yarn used is not recycled, but instead composed of leftover yarn from previous projects, therefore minimising the amount of yarn thrown away and the amount of waste sent to landfill.

The composition of each Yarn Tart is stated clearly on the ball band, as well as the weight, hook/needle size and cake weight. As these yarn cakes are made from scraps, unfortunately I cannot state the yardage/meterage on the ball band. The weight of each Yarn Tart varies, so please check the amount you need carefully. All weights are exact and not approximate. As with all yarn, the hook and needle size is only a recommendation so always make a gauge swatch before starting any project.

What Can I Use Yarn Tarts For?

Yarn tarts can be used like regular yarn! The only difference is that they are unique and made of leftovers. If you project calls for a 'chunky' weight yarn, any of my chunky yarn cakes can be used as a substitute, etc.

They are especially suited to scrappy projects (blankets, scarves...), festive decorations, rugs, or even statement clothing.

Some yarns are made of two strands of yarn caked together, so do check before purchase.

As with any yarn, the recommended hook and needle size is only a guide and depends on your tension. Before starting your project, always make a gauge swatch.
