I create unique rings with recycled vintage buttons and jewelry.
I began making vintage button rings because I needed a crafty project I could do on my own, on my own time. I run a small cafe and boutique called Emma Lou's in Louisville, Kentucky and, while it is amazing and lovely, I needed a fun and crafty project that I could do at home on my own time.
So, I started to create rings using old buttons I already had from leftover sewing projects. I began to add fun pieces to them, like old broaches, clip on earrings, and tie tacks. Soon, I exhausted my personal supply and began to hunt for unique treasures to embellish the rings with. I searched antique stores, flea markets, yard sales, and more to find interesting pieces to add to my rings.
I create rings that I want to wear. I love the tiny, delicate cameos and the big, oversize cocktail bling rings. I have a soft spot for all things vintage, from dainty floral porcelain buttons to over-the-top costume jewelry.
I love the process of taking something cast off-say, a single earring-and creating something entirely new and functional. I love pretty and fun things and I think my rings showcase that.
Thanks for taking a peek, please let me know if I can be of any assistance!
