Sir Two the Awakened Tree began as a story about a boy named Christopher lost in the forest who meets an awakened tree. It turned into a book series by author Wendy Altshuler and, years later, she wrote the prequel of how Sir Two was chosen by an ancient stone to wake up! Sir Two was always a talkative character and no matter how many new writing projects Wendy was immersed in over the years, Sir Two always came back onto her radar for one reason or another. “A few years ago I was suffering from exhaustion and I realized that nature and the groundedness of trees had a lot to teach about healing and balance. In fact, I uncovered an abundance of research on the scientific benefits of grounding and its effects on physical health and well being,” says Altshuler. With an M.A. Ed from Teachers College, Columbia University, Wendy partners with a Steiner-based educator in NYC. Our story has many teaching prompts which are supported by scientific research on the physical and mental benefits of grounding and connecting to the earth.

We are biological creatures, not machines, and we were intended to live in concert with nature. It is up to us to protect, preserve and regenerate natural spaces not just for our own health, but for the creatures and species who share this planet.
