One of my favourite chores as a child is to repair my grandparents' prayer beads. I would lovingly prepare two strands of thread, calculate the beads and if not enough, hunt them. Look at every nook and cranny to find the adventurous ones. After every bead is found, I would start stringing them. Oh, how I wish they come in many colours other than green! But, I really do enjoy the 'chore' and hope it breaks often...
My other favourite thing is trips to the goldsmiths. My grandparents sold stuff to other people, and sometimes they want gold jewellery. I would happily follow them, enjoy the free drinks and browse the shiny yellow stuff. I still have those gold necklace and bracelet my mother bought just from the same shop. I love both to bits and would love to pass to my (future) daughters one day as heirloom.
Well, I do love my wedding and engangement rings too! But I feel uncomfortable wearing rings. My wedding ring is a simple diamond solitaire and my engagement ring is a simple floral carved band. I am not much of a ring person...
As you may know already, I love jewellery. I love to create jewellery, but can't wear them so much. So for my Einstein moment, I decide to sell them!
My favourite time to create is at night. I just love the cooler night time since my house do not have air conditioner! Well, maybe someday when I have my own studio I will install one! Normally, when I create something, my cat Garfield would accompany me.
My inspiration came from many sources. Sometimes I just love looking at natural colour combination from flowers and try to translate that. Other times, it would be dumping my supplies and play matchy matchy. When I am in a rut, I would browse books, magazines and the internet to get inspired again. In anyway, I am not afraid to play with colours, but at the same time, I love muted colours too!
I love using Swarovski crystal beads and crystal pearls. Actually, I love the pearls more! And I love using semiprecious gemstones too. I like the coolness of the stones when you hold them. My favourite material to bind them all is using Artistic Wire. This brand's wire have beautiful colours, great quality and affordability.
My hope is that I can create for many more years to come, create many beautiful jewellery and make many ladies happy! Well, maybe I should start creating instead typing now!
