Creating Beautiful, Timeless Cloth, One Thread at a Time

I'm a self-taught hand weaver/fiber artist, and have been actively weaving since the early 90's. My main areas of interest are complex weave structures, linen weaving and color study. I work primarily with natural fibers creating functional, easy to care for textiles.

I've sold traditional scarves, shawls, blankets and table linens through local juried craft shows and in 2013, I joined the wonderful world of baby wrap weaving and became one of the original team members of OoLaLoom Handwovens. Baby wrap weaving opened a new dimension in my work, allowing for much more freedom and creativity.

In 2014 while Oola established new ownership, I began creating and selling baby wraps under my brand Enrica Handwoven.

I'm a long time member of the Weavers' Guild of Boston and other New England area Guilds, co-author of The Huck Pattern Collection and am a member of the Handweavers' Guild of America and Complex Weavers Study Group.

Some information about the fibers that I use:

Bamboo

Bamboo yarn is a type of rayon created from the bamboo plant, the fastest growing woody plant on earth. Bamboo groves are planted and harvested within three years, and no pesticides or chemicals are used on the plants, making this fiber not only ecologically sound but also sustainable. The bamboo yarn that I use is created in strict accordance with ISO9000 and ISO14000 environmental management standards, resulting in a natural and eco-friendly fiber that has no chemical additives.
Textiles created from bamboo yarn have wonderful drape and are lightweight enough to be cool in the summer but also warm in the winter.

Tencel®

Tencel® (also known as lyocell) is also natural fiber rayon made from wood pulp cellulose, which is processed with a non-toxic, recyclable dissolving agent, most of which is recycled back into the fiber manufacturing process. Like other natural fibers, tencel is naturally biodegradable. Tencel® is yarn dyed and absorbs colors much better than many other fibers, and it is particularly striking in deep tones, taking on a jewel-like appearance.
