About

A Passion for the Creative that Transcends Age

For me this store is about sharing my passion, love and design with anyone that is interested.
Please come in and look around. Hopefully something catches your eye and inspires you. I do lots of custom jewellery work either variations of the items you see in my shop or unique original requests.
I do custom stitching as well, any pattern your heart desires can be done. Timing and costs are on a per project basis.

KUMIHIMO BRACELETS:
When I started making Kumihimo bracelets in 2010. For me they were an absolute blessing. Having been plagued with metal allergies my whole life I don't have any piercings (not even ears) as they are rejected every time. I have trouble with chains and other jewelry that is metal.
Fiber bracelets were a way to make pretty jewelry that I could wear! Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese art that was once used to make Samurai armor. So it's tough & durable as well as original!

CROSS STITCHING:
I learned to stitch when I was 12. And it was my first love. At 16 I would stitch late at night in my room (as it wasn't cool to stitch)! I won a 3rd place ribbon for stitching at a craft fair at 27, joined a local stitching guild and made friends with other avid (albeit older) stitchers. Some of those ladies are the best friends I have today!

We all have a combined passion for creating things and age doesn't get in the way of loving someone's work, wanting a new pattern, coaxing each other to try the new fibre, or sharing our lives together. A common passion truly transcends age, race, gender and all those things that make each of us different, which is also what makes Etsy such a unique community!

When people weren't busy giving me weird looks for being a bit eccentric they were often commenting on my work. When I started this shop I was an Art Director for a magazine and as I was hating that career, I realized I needed something new. Etsy provided me with the perfect start off outlet to be creative on my own terms; and I've never left! Today I work administrative work full-time during weekdays (yep it's as boring as it sounds) and spend my free time using all my creative ideas for Epic Stitching.

Thank you for your visiting Epic Stitching & Handmade Design. I appreciate every sale, favorite and view that I receive. It makes me smile every day.

    Owner, Designer, Creator

As I design, organize, create, package & ship all orders, any errors are my fault (lol). With a prior career in graphic design, and a day job that is administrative, I'm able to put my creative inspirations into Epic Stitching products & designs.

    Photographer, Morale Support, Graphic Designer

Dave is my spouse and provides morale support for the store. The biggest thing he does however is takes all the lovely photographs you see that display all my products and created my lovely logo and branding! I'd be lost marketing without his help.

Sizing details

Recommended sizing is the exact size of your wrist as the bracelet slipknots will create some breathing space.
To find out the size of your wrist use a fabric ruler (flexible) or take a piece of string, headphone cords, etc. and wrap around your wrist. Note the start and end, then place next to a standard ruler to measure the size of your wrist.
Keep in mind the slipknots on Kumihimo bracelets allow for some flexibility in making the bracelets larger than ordered but not smaller. Some fibers also stretch so it is recommended to go with the smaller of two sizes if you are unsure.
Want a specific size? Just note in the comments of your order the exact size you want the bracelet (ie: 7.25").

Care instructions

KUMIHIMO
Most bracelets can get wet and be washed. .
Most items indicate any specific care instructions. If you're unsure please message me for specific information. All bracelet fibers are tested extensively before being sold.
Merino and silk bracelets are not recommended in the water as they stretch and fade quicker than others.
All hemp and cotton bracelets are very safe in the ocean, pool or shower. They can be worn all day, every day if you desire.

STITCHING
Do not wash stitching unless directed to by me. All stitching (without beads) can be ironed with a towel over top for protection. Ornaments will not need to be washed or ironed as they are finished and ready for display. Instructions will be provided with stitching.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All jewellery comes packaged in a bubble envelope for protection. The items will be inside an organza bag for safe keeping. Organza bags also give the jewellery a nice finished look when gifted.

If you'd like a card, note or anything added to the package please let me know. Many different cards or notes can be provided.
For the extra special touch ask me about having something typed on my authentic 1940's typewriter!

Stitching items will be protected with firm boards for flatness. Information will be given about shipping for each individual items unique situation.

Order and Shipping Timing

Almost all jewellery is made to order to keep items clean and personalized. Therefore lead time prior to shipping is anywhere between 10-14 days. If it will extend longer I will let you know directly. If you need the item by a certain date please advise upon ordering what your timeframe is.

Please note I live in Canada.
