Creativity makes me happy and each day is a new adventure

I started painting as a bit of an experiment and my first Jack Russell, Bracken, was my muse and friend. He still features on my branding as everyone loved his character. I seemed to gravitate towards painting dogs so I decided to concentrate more on commissioned animal portrait work as it is so popular and I enjoy it so much.
I also paint landscapes, dabble in wool needle-felting and i have other small craft items for sale in my store too.
Locally I attend a local farmers and craft market once a month which gives me the opportunity to meet and chat with customers and meet fellow artists. ( suspended currently)
I’m lucky enough to live on the Malvern Hills and my house is built in a disused quarry, so my studio window view at the back is a 100ft rock face, an interesting outlook to say the least. While I work I can listen to the crows and other wildlife that live there including Peregrines and Muntjac deer. At the front, the hill drops away into the valley with views towards the Bredon Hills. There’s lots of interesting walks to take my dogs on and I wouldn’t live anywhere else. I’m also part of the Malvern Well Dressers community who dress the wells (the water springs that Malvern is famous for ) at different times of the year, starting with May Day, which is always fun and I can let my creativity run wild.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders

If I am painting a portrait it normally takes around a week to complete. Timescale on posting depends on how busy I am with other orders and if I need to source a canvas size. I aim to get the portrait sent out within two weeks.

Gift wrapping and packaging

I wrap in tissue or glassine paper with a branded sticker and make sure the item is well protected to post.

How a portrait commission works

I ask for a photograph or several to get an idea of the pet I’m painting, they can be sent via e mail or Facebook messenger or similar. A pose, photo style, size of canvas is agreed before I start work. I ask for a non returnable 30% deposit with the balance being paid when the final photograph of the work is sent over. The portrait will be gift wrapped and securely packaged and sent via Royal Mail 1st class.

What media do you work in?

I normally work with acrylic paint for portraits but sometimes I use charcoal for sketches but this needs to be put under glass and framed due to risk of smudging.
