Experimenting with creativity makes me happy and each day is a new adventure

I started painting with acrylics when I had my first Jack Russell, Bracken, he was such a character and an inspiration to me. I enjoyed painting so much that I started taking commissions for pet portraits.
It seems to come naturally to me. I love the moment when a dab of paint to highlight an inquisitive eye or a wet nose makes the portrait come alive .Bracken was my muse and my friend for the many years he was with me.

Photography is another passion of mine and I use my own images as a reference for the landscape paintings that I undertake, and clients photos for my animal portraits.
I have many happy customers and I’m so grateful for their praise and reviews.

I also love making miniature felted-wool animals that are so much fun to create, and seasonal gifts and painted crafts that seem to be really popular.

I live within an old quarry on the Malvern Hills and my studio is on the top floor of the house. The dramatic rock face view is always inspiring, from the early morning when it lights up burning orange as the sun rises, to rainy days when the water cascades and drips down in mini streams. I love to listen to the crows that fly above, the owls hunting at night and the odd bark of a Muntjac Deer that roam the hills.

Being creative and living here is the feel good factor for me and I enjoy every minute.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders

If I am painting a portrait it normally takes around a week or so to complete. Timescale on posting depends on how busy I am with other orders and if I need to source a canvas size. I aim to get the portrait sent out within two weeks or sooner if it’s a special order

Gift wrapping and packaging

I wrap in tissue or glassine paper with a branded sticker and make sure the item is well protected for posting. Where possible I use cornstarch envelopes and recycled paper. All of my stationery is printed using eco inks and recycled paper.

How a portrait commission works

I ask for a photograph or several to get an idea of the pet I’m painting, they can be sent via e mail or Facebook messenger or similar. A pose, photo style, size of canvas is agreed before I start work. I ask for a non returnable 50% deposit with the balance being paid when the final photograph of the work is sent over. The portrait will be gift wrapped and securely packaged and sent via Royal Mail 1st class.

What media do you work in?

I normally work with acrylic paint for portraits but sometimes I use charcoal for sketches but this needs to be put under glass and framed due to risk of smudging.
