About

Always Unique

My story is both a long and short one. I could go into all the history of my collecting as a child (ask about my 14,000+ Matchbox cars if you dare) and being fascinated with art and antiques (It's HOW old?). Of course, back then an antique to me was anything more than ten years old... There's my love of limited edition items, like starting with trying to collect specialty and limited edition Matchbox cars, and now enjoying the challenge of finding older books from limited runs of 1 of 100 if even that much. Then came the jewelry...

The jewelry started when I saw something in a friend's boutique and I said to myself "I can do that!" My wife then said, "So do it!" The next week I went back with six necklaces similar to the ones they had. They bought four. Soon a co-worker bought another. Then my wife started asking me to try different things (she's my biggest fan now, go figure, and wears my original creations as often as she wears everything I've bought her over the years). I knew I was on to something and had to find a way to, well, move my product.

Enter Etsy.

It was a small shop at first. Maybe five items if I remember correctly. But I had a sale that first week and I was hooked. Of course it took almost another two months to get my next sale, but by then it didn't matter. I've been slowly adding unusual antiques along side my original jewelry. A lot of the vintage jewelry I have was all items I originally purchased to re-purpose, but in the end just didn't have the heart to destroy a perfectly good item, so instead have tried to send them off to new good homes.

Oh, and why ER Cubed? You see, I'm a "Third" and instead of adding the III to my name or initials, I let my science background take over and I just raise my initials to the third power. In text format it's ER^3 for all the geeks out there...

I am a software architect by day, jewelry designer by night, and antique hunter somewhere in between. It is always the unusual details that catch my eye, so I never know what I may come home with one day or create the next day.
