I bought the vase for a gift and it is perfect! The color is rich and vibrant. It adds the perfect pop of color. The vase was exceptionally well packed and arrived extremely quickly too! Very happy.

I ordered two mugs for my in-laws' for Christmas. Erin's talent is amazing. The mugs are beautiful and will go perfectly in their new beach house. I can't wait to see their faces when they open this gift. Thank you Erin!!

This is the last seaside mug for a while! There's still time for me to get this out for Christmas.

About

Welcome To Erin Killian Pottery!

My name is Erin and I’m a former journalist (most recently for National Public Radio in Washington, D.C.). In 2012, my husband and I packed up with our infant boy and headed West to the California desert so we could soak in the mountains, explore the West coast and take on creative projects. That’s when I fell in love in pottery. I took classes from a local potter in our desert town about an hour from Death Valley. One day, after throwing on the wheel for eight consecutive hours, while I was six months pregnant with my second boy, I came home and breathlessly said to my husband: “I could do this all day every day!”

Now in Albuquerque, I spend every spare moment in my studio in my backyard, listening to the birds (and NPR, of course). All of my pieces are wheel thrown and hand painted. I work in small batches -- and I try to update my shop every six weeks or so. I mostly work with stoneware, and have a simple, functional style inspired by nature — water, mountains, woods -- and blurred lines. Because each piece is handmade there is often a funky element (whether it’s an imperfection in the glaze or a slightly off-center handle) that makes it one of a kind — and, to me, beautiful.

Frequently asked questions

Do you take custom or personalized orders?

I love doing custom orders, but I'm all booked up through the holidays and we're moving back to California in January. I'll update this section when I'm ready to take more custom orders -- most likely in March. Also, please note that I have three boys 5 and under and (very) limited time, so unless it's a shape or glaze I've already made, it's unlikely I'll be able to fill it. However, please don't hesitate to ask -- if I can make it happen, I will!

You really don't take refunds or exchanges?

Each of my pieces is one of a kind, so all sales are final. But if you have a problem with your order, please contact me within 3 days.

If your order arrives in broken pieces, don't worry, we can find a solution. Here's what you do:

1. Immediately photograph the package and the broken piece(s).
2. Contact me ASAP to let me know about the situation.
3. An agreed-upon replacement will be on the way as soon as possible.

If you are truly unhappy with your order please contact me within 3 days and we will work something out. I love my customers and want you to be happy with your purchase. Handmade ceramics are delicate, so I cannot (unfortunately) be responsible for broken pieces months down the road. Thank you!
