If you make a mistake, there are endless opportunities to start anew.
It starts with a thought, then the design, the shaping and forming, 7 day drying, bisquing, glazing, 16 hour firing and cooling. The anticipation of finally opening a warm kiln to see what surprises the mischievous Kiln Gods bestowed upon your creations almost feels like Christmas. There’s a sense of gratitude and surprise and so much joy when your expectations are exceeded.
All of this, and so much more, is why I’m passionate about this craft. I surround myself with things that bring me happiness and I hope to provide that same joy to others. I believe that the comforting ambiance created by natural materials and traditional crafts is invaluable, and a key element in enhancing quality of life.
