About

Blending the beauty of days gone by with function and design of today.

I've been creative and fashion oriented for as long as I can remember. As a child with age in the single digits, I would answer the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" with, "A rich and famous fashion designer." I realize that wealth and fame take a while, but I am proud to say I accomplished the most important last part of my answer.

As a child, I was a bit of a handful. As a result, my mother was not willing to let me too near her precious sewing machine. This was a blessing in disguise as I was forced to find more creative ways of turning found items into finished creations. It was in grade school that I started wearing and collecting vintage clothing and jewelry. I would mix them with modern items to create looks that were uniquely me. This was long before the internet and style blogs, so not everyone understood my perspective on fashion.

My first real creation, starting from scratch, was my junior year prom dress. My mother watched me anxiously as I learned to control her machine. My creation was a wool, satin, and organza two piece ensemble finished with vintage buttons. I conquered all the important aspects of sewing, and just wanted to create more, more, more! Anytime I am in or near a fabric or bead store, or even a flea market or garage sale, I am looking for treasures to inspire me. I am just one person, and I have more ideas and inspiration than I can wear on my own. So, I offer some of my creations and findings to you. I hope that you adore them and draw inspiration from them in your own way.

My line is named with my noun-ification of ethereal. It is my way of addressing all the magic and wonder of the world that surrounds us. Because etsy had a conflict with officially calling my shop just "etherea," I thought of my young days hammering words on my grandfathers manual typewriter. The lowercase letter L and the number 1 were the same key. So, in that spirit, I typed ethereal, replacing the L with a 1 in the way of an old timey typewriter.

Thanks for stopping by etherea!

I have been fascinated with eras gone by for as long as I can remember, and I love items that stand out in a crowd.

I look to create unique pieces reminiscent of by-gone eras, but with modern twists. Pieces that hearken to a time when it was all about looking your best, perhaps while dancing or sipping a cocktail.

All etherea pieces are named for my favorite cocktails, and come with the corresponding drink recipe.

Occasionally, I offer vintage pieces that I cannot keep, but want to find a good home for!

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
Handmade items are made to my high specifications and all sales are final. I construct my items to stand up to normal wear and tear. If a fault in construction is immediately apparent, please contact me and I'll see what we can work out.

Vintage items are described to the best of my ability, and I do my best to describe all flaws. The items are sold as-is and sales are final.
Payment
At this time, I only accept PayPal.

Don't have a PayPal account? You do not need a PayPal account to purchase an item! You can pay with your credit card through PayPal. Learn how here: http://www.etsy.com/storque/how-to/how-to-pay-with-a-credit-card-and-create-a-paypal-account-746
Shipping
All items shipped through the US Postal Service. These items are handmade and one-of-a-kind. I do my best to ensure your etherea items will arrive safely. However, etherea is not responsible for packages left in inclement weather or issues occurring from USPS handling. If you have a concern, please convo me, and we can discuss insuring your package.

To lessen waste, I try to reuse packaging for shipment or use recycled shipping materials. If you prefer that I use new materials for packaging your items, please let me know when you place your order.

Items listed will ship within five business days of your order. If you have requested a custom item, I will let you know the shipping time frame based on your request.
Additional policies and FAQs
Due to the formal nature of most etherea products spot cleaning with a product made for dry-clean fabrics is recommended. For jewelry pieces, I recommend wiping with a damp cloth.

For vintage pieces, I recommend consulting a professional cleaner for care if there are not care tags present.

All items listed are ready to ship. If you would like a custom item, please convo me. I would love to work with you! Once we settle specifics of your project, I can give you a timeline and create a custom listing just for you.
