Announcement   Welcome to Woodland Folk, home to a collection of awkward, slightly scruffy but very loveable creatures. I hope you find one here that you could love. Made from polymer clay and real, often recycled fur, these folk are 100% hand crafted by me and original. Each is truely one of a kind.

The head, arms and legs of the folk are sculped from polymer clay. I work a small ball of clay until a special creature begins to emerge then I just go with that, allowing an almost neutral expression then adding suitable ears and sometimes little holes for whiskers. Arms and legs, paws or hooves are created next. The clay is baked and coated with a protective lacquer. Each body is made from real fur, often this is recycled from old coats, stoles, hats, gloves or from skins I find at flea markets. They are hand sewn and either filled with soft stuffing to give a cuddly sponginess or weighted with quartz granules to help them sit a little easier in the hand or against an object. Sometimes both are used. The heads are sewn (through special holes made before baking) and glued to the bodies, the limbs are loosley but securely sewn on.

A few notes on care....
These folk are carefully made, however due to the age and therefore fragility of some of the furs used, they are delicate and not intended for children sorry. They prefer gentle handling and woodland folk shy from direct sunlight.

They have also been made to appear old and a little shabby, details such as plucked or clipped fur and obvious or even extra stitches are intentional. Each sits, stands, lays or leans in a different way, they are not jointed so are not made to allow for a variety of poses. They are best just propped up in front of another object (they like a bit of lumbar support when resting for extended periods!).
