Welcome to my eco-friendly shop! Where cozy warm and comfortable slippers are made using nearly 100% recycled materials. ewe boots come in many styles, colors, and textures. They also have a wool sole - please message me for current wool options - Custom orders welcome :)

I am slightly obsessed with shopping my favorite thrift stores to scour the bins for hidden treasures of damaged, stained, shrunken materials that are worthy of new life. I really enjoy the hunt - and I usually leave with a bag full of goodies that I can't wait to transform into practical and comfortable slippers. My process is fairly simple and has been perfected over time. I wash and felt all materials before the creative process begins.

About

ewe boots… The Story of a Slipper

I've always been concerned with how my lifestyle effects the earth and feel responsible to teach my 4 children how to protect and respect our planet. Each time I see a garbage truck go by, it grieves my heart to think of our expanding landfills and our wasteful and "stuff" obsessed culture. Living in the country, I try to live as simply as I can, eating local and homegrown foods, cloth diapering, driving only when necessary and buying second hand.

My Inspiration for ewe boots...

When my youngest son was born with a rare condition affecting his skin and hair, I wasn't sure what to put on him that didn't give him a rash. Every pair of socks and slippers we tried irritated his sensitive skin. I had a difficult time finding natural fibers for his feet and finally decided to try making him a pair of slippers from a wool sweater that I had accidentally felted in the dryer. I had shied away from wool thinking it would be too scratchy and itchy, so I was amazed at how soft and cozy they were felted. Most importantly, they didn’t bother his skin! That was the day ewe boots was born. He loves them so much that he even wants to wear them to bed!
Once I started making them, I just couldn't stop! For the past 5 years I've made several pairs for my family and friends who encouraged me in my earth friendly venture, so here we are.

ewe boots are handmade from 90-100% wool sweaters and 100% leather garments that would have otherwise been discarded. Through arrangements with local thrift stores as well as donations, I collect and save these unwanted/damaged garments from landfills and breathe new life into them in the form of ewe boots.

Welcome to my eco-friendly Shop! I consider myself a reclaim artist with nature in mind. I adore natural fibers and enjoy giving new purpose to gently used articles of clothing that would have otherwise add to our landfills. I am very fortunate to have the support of several local thrift shops in my area that thoughtfully save damaged wool and leather for me and my team to utilize for making our slippers. I am blessed to be a part of a small community that truly believes in the success of small businesses. I literally couldn't do it without you - You guys rock!

Our shop strives for quality and excellence in each pair of slippers. With the help of my prep assisting staff and seamstresses as well as my husband (the shipper) our goal is to produce and deliver your ewe boots order in a timely manner.

Some people ask me where I got my pattern for my slippers...With the help of a universal and comprehensive foot/size chart, I created my unique slipper patterns about 5 years ago when my youngest son was born. I also provided day care from my home for a few years and conveniently had several baby & toddler testers, not to mention each of my family members thankfully have a variety of foot sizes! Over the past few years, my patterns and processes have been tweaked many times to ensure the most accurate and comfortable fit. Whether you go by US or EU sizes - Think in inches or centimeters, we can figure out the size you need!

Babies and children's slippers:
Babies and kids grow fast and tend to create wear on slippers at the toe (especially crawlers) This is why I usually include a "toe guard" with every pair. If you prefer a baby slipper without this option, please let me know.
ewe boots should last anywhere from 4-6+ months depending on use and age of the child. Wool and leather will "stretch" with wear and "grow" with your baby too.

Big Kid slippers:
Big kids typically get 6-9+ months of wear from their slippers as they're feet aren't growing as fast as babies. I recommend wearing a sock with the slippers until the seams "matt" into the fibers of the slippers lessening the "feel" of the inside seam.

Adult Slippers:
Accurate measurements are "key" in making adult size slippers. Since adult feet are no longer growing, you should be able to enjoy wearing your ewe boots for several seasons to come, so, I like to make ewe boots tailored to fit it's intended foot as perfectly as possible. Keep in mind, wool and leather fibers are bound to break down over time and the more you wear them the faster this process happens. This being said, I have enjoyed wearing my most recent pair of ewe boots everyday for over a year now and they are still going strong!
