Announcement   Thank you for visiting my shop where I offer ceramic animal sculpture, pottery, jewelry organizers and other hand painted items. Please see my bio for more information about me.

My pieces are the result of a layering process consisting of applying glaze before both firing stages. I brush on my glazes rather than dipping them, and use many brush strokes of several different glazes to get the finish and layers that you see. My sculptures are unique works of art and exceptionally affordable considering the hand made attention that I give to each one.

My painted pieces are made with a similar process involving layered paint, sanding, distressing and hand painted details. My work comes form my personal experiences, intuitive sense of design and perspective.

Thank you for supporting my work!

Fast shipping and wrapped tightly in bubblewrap. Unique and impressive, well crafted cat face. Very heavy duty. Going to be a statement piece in the garden.

About

Artist Statement

The unique ceramics of Elizabeth Wocasek are hand built sculptures which are then high fired in an electric kiln. Her work is expressive of her life and love of the natural world, circular forms, animals and color, bringing luminosity and multiple layers to each of her pieces. Her work fits into the mainstream of contemporary ceramics yet is singular in its direction, composition and style.
Her career in ceramics began in 2003 while taking art studio courses at Sacramento City College with the aim of earning a second Bachelor’s in art. She took ceramics from Bob Schumacher and quickly became hooked, eventually spending nearly all of her free time devoted to the medium, acquiring a kiln and recently a potter’s wheel. She now adds her sculptural work and richly colored abstract designs to her vessels thrown on the wheel.
While ceramics takes up most of her creative time, Elizabeth has also revisited her first love, painted furniture. She takes pre-owned pieces and adorns them with multi-layered painted surfaces in conjunction with her sculptural embellishments. She also makes jewelry organizers that are functional works of art, employing her unique painting style, hand-made ceramic knobs, wire and old picture frames.
She is known for her ceramic crow sculptures and garden animal stakes and her work has appeared in Little Relics, Gallery 2110 and most recently, local gallery gift shops such as the Pence in Davis and the Crocker Art Museum. Elizabeth also sells her work in local and regional fine arts and craft fairs several times a year and online through her website and Etsy.
Her current works are the result of her accumulated experiences and talents, combining several art forms to create functional mixed media pieces.
