About

Harnessing the power of a 60 ton hydraulic forging press to create art for today.

Randy started in 1972 as a traditional blacksmith. Over the years he mastered the techniques of hand forging and then forging with a power hammer. Today many of his works are done with his home made 60 ton hydraulic forging press. He creates his own tooling and dies and uses the power of the press to squish the hot materials into shape. He has found that this power produces a clay like appearance and gives the impression that his hands have been in the hot metals he is forming into artistic and useful items.

I think of my work as pushing hot metal as if I were pushing my fingers into a piece of modeling clay. I love squishing hot metal in my 60 ton hydraulic forging press to create unique designs for you, each with a bit of whimsey to keep you smiling. Even though the same tooling may be used to create similar pieces, due to the amount of heat and where the hot metal is placed, each item is slightly different from the next one.
