ABOUT THE MAKER
“3000 year old fingerprints in pottery began my journey in clay!” As a teenager working at the Egyptian Museum in San Jose, CA. I became fascinated with these “nameless people” who used the earth to make such a permanent impression in time. It was this moment tucked away in my heart as something that should be explored. 25 Years later, as a home educating mother of four who was recovering from a serious illness, I was prescribed to “relax and get a hobby”. It was the memory of “fingerprints” that brought my life full circle back to pottery and God’s chosen tool for healing.
In 2011 I began learning about making pottery in earnest by creating a cup, a day for the entire year. I shared this learning process through daily YouTube videos and on December 31,2011 I opened my kiln to the 365th cup! This led to my first gallery exhibition and continued to share my love of clay online through various venues and events.
5 years after my cup project I had the opportunity to publish a book “365 Days of Clay Cups, A Cup - A Day - A Year” about the journey (available thru Amazon.com). I’m always grateful to those who follow my work and continually encourage me to grow in art and pottery making.
My desire is to infuse all the excitement and joy I’ve been blessed with into creating inspirational and encouraging ceramic pieces! I believe we were ALL created for a greater purpose … and that’s what I hope comes through in each piece that leaves my studio.
It’s not just a “cup” or a “bowl”, it’s our own fingerprints in time!
