About EynhallowPottery
The passionate pursuit of beauty and excellence in craft
Hello! Welcome. and thank you for browsing my shop. My name is Julia Castor, and I am a young potter and artist hoping to turn my passion for ceramics and fine art into a full time profession. My love for art started when I was ten years old, and I decided to spend my savings on a paint set from a catalog. After that, I was hooked, and have been ever since. I love how broad and beautiful the world of ceramics and fine art is, how many diverse opportunities to create and inspire it brings, and the incredible people who work in this field. Of course, that is not to say that it doesn't take an immense degree of hard work to be a professional artist, but I know that it is a task worth taking on. So thank you for supporting passionate artists and artisans like myself through the medium of Etsy. I hope that my work brings you as much joy as making it has to me!
ABOUT THE NAME OF MY SHOP
Eynhallow is a small island off the north coast of Scotland. It fascinates me because of its remote location, the monastic ruin that is on it, along with the folk lore that surrounds it. The island is uninhabited, being surrounded by strong currents which create perilous waves to boats. In Scottish folk lore, it is said to be the Summer home of the crafty Finn folk who kidnap locals and force them into marriage under the sea. Scotland is my favorite place, and a great inspiration to me in my work
