My wife was looking for a pair of opal earrings made with yellow gold and we were having problems finding something. We saw a piece that Elyssa had done but it wasn't exactly what we wanted. I took a picture and started emailing Elyssa. She was great! She put together a custom piece hat was exactly what we were looking for. It could not have been easier and we could not be more pleased with the result.

About

I'm Elyssa Z. Marsland, ezmars. I make wire, gemstone and metalwork jewelry.

I first began apprenticing with two wire jewelers in the area and eventually went out on my own. I've not had any formal training in jewelry fabrication, but in 2009 began learning cold connection techniques. This has really broadened my avenues for artistic expression. A lot of my current projects make use of reused and found objects, especially if you have objects you want made into wear-able art. I love to dress up and decorate myself and enjoy making accessories to accentuate everyone's personal style.

So a little about why things look the way they do:
I have a thing for circles. The artwork in my home, as well as my jewelry, contains many spheres and circles. Spheres are the primary components of our world, from atoms to planets. Within a sphere all possibilities exist equally and simultaneously. A sphere is all-encompassing.

One adjective used to describe some of my metalwork is industrial. I prefer to use alternative metals (alternative to silver and gold), especially if they are found, scrap, reused. I like things to look rough, sometimes unfinished, not perfect. I could speculate on the roughness of our human conditions or other, deeper reasons for my preferences, but honestly. I just like it.

Additional policies and FAQs
Have something special you'd like to make into a piece of jewelry, a charm, a keychain? I always welcome custom orders. Wire work is a great way to mount any object to be worn or carried. I have made bones, stones, glass, coins, keys, teeth, broken china, almost anything imagineable into custom made jewelry peices. Just send me a message and maybe a picture of what you want mounted and we'll start exploring the possibilities!

Thanks.... Elyssa
