Beads begin as strips of quilt fabric cut on the diagonal

They are then saturated in a mixture of glue & water before being rolled.

After rolling the bead, each is hung on a dowel to dry.

They are then strung temporarily so that they can be dipped many times in acrylic for a high-shine finiish.

And finally they are made into various forms of jewelry and accessories for marketing!
How many fabric beads do you need, anyway?
I have been sewing all my life and have done some quilting. I started beading about 11 years ago and made a multi-strand seed bead necklace with lots of colors. I thought some kind of cuff would be cool to pull it all together, and since I don't work with metal, wood, or artist clay (epic fail in that department!) I thought that a "decoupaged" fabric cuff would work. TA DA! My fabric bead making process began and has evolved a lot over the years.
I started making jewelry and accessories for fun and donation to charity silent auctions. When I learned that people actually bought my donated items AND my husband asked me how many fabric beads did I really need, I decided to jump into the craft show world under the business name, "Purple Cow Designs". I did my first show in 2006 and have been doing several per year since then, including various quilt festivals. (I use quilt fabric to make my beads!)
I decided to take 2015 off from shows but had been thinking about opening a shop on Etsy for quite some time. On March 11, 2015, I opened FabricBeadLady! Slowly but surely, I am building my inventory in my shop and hope that others will have fun looking (and buying) my pieces!

Returns and exchange details
Purchases must be returned unused and in their original condition to validate a refund. Unfortunately postage costs cannot be refunded, and you will need to pay for the return postage of your purchase.
Custom orders may not be returned for refund.
Please note that the pictured colors of items may vary slightly from monitor to monitor. All of my items are handmade by me.
Payment
All credit card information sent to Etsy is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL), and once received, it is stored in a PCI compliant environment. This data is not shared between buyers and sellers.
I do not collect sales or use taxes in all states. For states imposing sales or use taxes, your purchase is subject to use tax unless it is specifically exempt from taxation. Your purchase is not exempt merely because it is made over the Internet or by other remote means. Many states require purchasers to file a sales/use tax return at the end of the year reporting all of the taxable purchases that were not taxed and to pay tax on those purchases. Details of how to file these returns may be found at the websites of your respective taxing authorities.
Shipping
Shipments are typically made within 24-48 hours from time payment is processed with the exception of custom orders that may take 2 – 4 weeks, depending on the complexity of the order.
Items are neatly wrapped and are shipped via USPS Priority Mail.
Additional policies and FAQs
They are resistant to moisture, but not impervious! Please do not wear them in the shower or the swimming pool!
I use cotton, quilt fabric to make my beads. If you have such fabric that you would like made up, please contact me about doing a custom order!
