About

Sewing Keeps Me Young

Home Ec. was my favourite class in grades 7 and 8 back in the early 60's. Being let loose on a real sewing machine was the start of a beautiful friendship. Back then my first project was a pot holder. Then I moved on to aprons, embellished with cross stitch. I made baby bibs for my little twin sisters. Sewing my own wedding dress was very meaningful for me. When I operated a ballet school I made all of the costumes myself. Tutus are very close to my heart!

My shop opened six years ago when my first grand daughter was born. I was inspired to make a rag doll for her. I spent most of that winter creating rag dolls, and a couple of quilts, too. Most of the work was by hand.

I had to take time out from sewing to have my Rheumatoid Arthritis treated. The sewing was difficult, and still is but there are so many lovely fabrics out there that I want to work with. I just love them! My tastes generally run to the colourful and quirky, but I do have some "natural" looking fabrics available.

Every day I find some new item that I'd like to try to sew. Bow ties, baby slippers, leggings....there are so many exciting things to do. I have just recently acquired a serger sewing machine for making knit fabric items. I love working with knits! Maxaloones (grow with me pants) being my personal favourite. This winter I taught myself to knit so I now have hand knits on offer.
Keep checking in to find new items.

I've been sewing by hand and machine for 55 years now. Kids' clothes, doll's clothes, baby clothes, adult's clothes, quilts, stuffed animals and rag dolls...they've all been created over the years. I'm enjoying surfing the net searching for fabric.
