Took no time at all from order to delivery. Got exactly what I was looking for for our production.

I'm happy with my purchase. If you're going to purchase this you should know that it's more of a weathered grey in the sunlight. If your in a darkly lit room or the item is backlit it can appear black, but any direct light over 450 lumens and it will appear grey. I had assumed this when buying it and received what I was expecting. Thanks!

Such a nice compact 'art piece' to keep on my desk shelf - reminds me to be thankful for healing and happiness!

About

Obviously Miscellany

Faire Miscellany began with some origami crane earrings which were made and sold by Kate. Most of her buyers were fellow classmates at school. A few she sold to her mother, Cris, who thought they might do well on Etsy.

Then Cris started making necklaces, hats, capes, shirts, and a variety of other items. The idea was to deal with ABLE (Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy) amounts of fabric. Soon the fun of coming up with costume pieces took hold, and she was doing all kinds of wild things.

Kate's brother wanted in with some hemp necklaces and lizard tails and her father tossed in some pins made from his stamp collection and flywheels from his clocks. Even author Alice Audrey wanted in on the act with embroidery and some knitting. Everyone has something a little different, so what we offer might be a bit eclectic. You could even call it a miscellany.

Welcome! We are glad you found something we made interesting.

Please note that a number of listings include Made to Order options. If there are several sizes offered, then chances are all but one will be Made to Order. We have a wide selection of fabric and materials on hand, so by all means contact us for even more options.

Accepted payment methods

  • Pay with Visa
  • Pay with Master Card
  • Pay with American Express
  • Pay with Discover
  • Pay with PayPal
  • Buy with Apple Pay
  • Pay with Sofort
  • Pay with iDeal
  • Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Payment
We accept PayPal, and most major credit cards. Items will be shipped as soon after payment is received as possible (generally the next business day).

Work on Made to Order and custom order items will not begin until full payment is received. Check individual listings for how long until we ship. You may cancel a jewelry order at any time prior to shipping. Sewing projects may be cancelled until the fabric has been cut.
Shipping
We us United States Postal Service - which ever class is the least expensive - plus tracking. If you want priority shipping when it is not offered in the listing, insurance, etc, or to use a different shipping provider, please contact us.

We do not try to keep up with extra fees and duties that may be imposed on international shipments by the country receiving the package. It is up to the buyer to cover those. Nor do we guarantee a shipment will make it through customs, though we will do all we can to package our items correctly. A customs number will be provided, but it's up to the buyer to make sure it gets through. We no longer offer express shipping internationally except by request, and then only if the buy accepts all extra expenses on the understanding there is no guarantee the package will reach it's destination.

We have had a lot of weirdness crop up on the shipping costs in the listings. If you see a number that seems out of line, contact us! We will fix it as quickly as we can. We generally charge 75 cents for handling to cover the cost of packaging. If a shipping charge is high, then it is totally unintentional, or a direct result of the highway robbery charged by the post office.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are not satisfied for any reason you may return the item for a full refund - not including shipping charges. Items must be returned in the condition they were received in order to receive a refund. Buyers are responsible for all shipping costs.

We will gladly make alteration for free, as long as you will pay for all shipping charges. You can return items for alteration at any time or as many times as you wish. Simply include enough postage in your package for the return trip. Let us know in advance so we will collect it quickly.
Additional policies and FAQs
We welcome custom orders. If you see anything in our store similar to what you want, contact us. If it is within our abilities, we will make it for a commiserate price.

We have a much larger inventory than what is listed. For instance, we may only have one listing for hemp necklaces, but actually have twenty in stock. If we have anything on hand that matches your description, we will set up a listing for you to peruse at your leisure.

If you place a Made to Order or custom order with us and would like regular updates on our progress in construction, let us know. We would be glad to email pictures. Well, Cris would. You might have to settle for a quick note from Kate.
