welcome to my little universe of inspiration and creation! I'm a fabric addict and flea market junkie. hence, my etsy shop offers a range of hand-made bags and cushions, and a few clothing items, all designed and sewn by me. as I get enthusiastic about too many lovely things, you'll also find some great flea market finds in my store and a range of beautiful vintage kantha quilts. last but not least, I offer newly made Kantha quilts and baby blankets, all ethically produced by beneficiaries of the NGO Center for Development and Peace in Bangladesh.

all my items are one of a kind!

I work with recycled and fairly produced materials as much as I can - old bed linen, used leather belts, ethnic vintage textiles - anything worn I come across and fall in love with!

About

I have always been drawn to beautiful and special textiles. as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by colours and different ways of arranging them. I loved the handicraft classes (that I was blessed to receive in primary school), but never thought of turning my growing passion into an actual small business.

it was only after moving to a different country, getting married, having two kids and not really finding myself in the job setting of the field to which I had dedicated years and years of studies that I turned to making things with my own hands again. I learned how to make clothing patterns, improved my sewing skills and most recently took an interest in natural dyeing. I found a profound satisfaction in producing an actual item instead of some abstract theory or piece of written work.

so here I am - not a hugely successful designer or business woman, but really loving what I do and moving forward into new fields, discovering new ways of creating bags, cushions or clothes and honing my artisan's skills.

creating has taught me a lot about myself and about the way of life I would really like to lead. it has taught me respect for material things and their scarcity (greatly lacking in our consumerist world) and appreciation of all things hand-made (who has got the time to put that much effort into one single item!) it has made me value little, seemingly trivial things in life more - a beautiful shade of indigo on hand-woven hemp, a collection of smooth pebbles, a smile on the face of one of my three boys.

hello and thanks for stopping by!

the items you find at my shop are mostly made of recycled or fairly produced materials - old bed linen, vintage clothing, used blankets, old kantha quilts and embroidered pieces - in short, anything used I come across and fall in love with. thus "fairyworn".

"fairlyworn" also means that I value fair production terms and use environmentally friendly and socially responsible materials and methods to create all my items. if I use new fabrics, I make an effort to buy and use only fairly produced textiles.

I am inspired by fabrics from all around the globe, some bought at markets, some discovered on etsy, some given to me by friends. if you share my enthusiasm for creative apparel, "old stuff" and environmentally and socially responsible consumption, please be my guest at fairlyworn!

Returns and exchanges
I do want you to be happy with your purchase, so items may be returned within 14 days of delivery. you will get a full refund if the item is undamaged, however, I cannot refund you for shipping, and you will have to cover your own shipping costs to send the item back. If you are unhappy with the quality of your item, please let me know. I will always issue refunds and exchange items regardless of date of purchase, if it is due to problems with the quality of an item.
Payment
I accept paypal and major credit cards, due at checkout. cancellations are accepted if made before the item is shipped.

please note that internationally shipped items may incur additional duties and taxes, which customers will have to pay themselves. I cannot take responsibility for these fees. for my european customers - Switzerland is unfortunately NOT part of the EU! therefore, you will have to pay duties / VAT according to your country's customs regulations.
Shipping
I ship items from Switzerland by Swiss Post. there are three shipping options outlined below - at checkout, you can choose any of these from the drop-down menu.

as shipping is very expensive from Switzerland, and I am trying to keep the shipping costs as low as possible, I offer economy shipping without tracking for packages weighing less than 2kg. I have had inquiries / complaints in the past from customers who chose economy shipping not realising that they would not be able to track their package - please be aware of this! if it is important for you to have tracking and insurance, please choose shipping option number 3!

1) standard (economy) shipping: cheapest option, without tracking and insurance (unless the package weighs more than 2kg). parcels take on average two to three weeks to reach non-european destinations, and about one week to reach countries within europe. however, there have been cases where delivery took up to a month. unfortunately, there is no tracking available for this type of shipping if the package weighs less than 2kg.

2) priority shipping without tracking: delivery time usually within three to seven business days to any destination. please note that this option does not include tracking or insurance if the package weighs less than 2kg.

3) priority shipping with tracking: delivery time usually within three to seven business days to any destination, this option includes tracking as well as insurance.

if your package weighs more than 2kg and less than 5kg (which is usually only the case if you buy a heavy quilt or two quilts, for example), I ship economy or priority with tracking. both options include insurance.

I refund shipping cost if it exceeds the actual cost by more than $2.

I cannot take responsibility for items lost or damaged during shipping. if you would like to insure your purchase, please choose priority shipping WITH tracking. if your package weighs over 2kg it will automatically be insured.

items are shipped within one to three days, unless stated otherwise in my shop announcement. if you are in a hurry to receive your package, let me know and I will do my best to ship as soon as possible!

combined shipping:

in the etsy system, it is quite difficult to predict the cost of shipping for more than one item / combined orders. often, customers end up paying excess shipping fees, which I always refund. however, sometimes it happens that customers are charged too little. in this case, I reserve myself the right to ask you to cover the additional shipping cost, or to cancel your order, if you don't feel like paying additional fees.
Additional policies and FAQs
all the vintage fabrics I use are pre-washed. if you purchase a dyed item or one made of ethnic fabric, please hand-wash it separately in lukewarm water and do not let it soak for a long time. do not wash dangles and leather handles. if an item needs special treatment, I will state so in the item's description.
