Announcement   Hello, my name is Faith Jordan and you have stepped into my shop over-flowing with happy, bright original art. I paint with a carefree energetic spirit and whimsicality, with LOTS of COLOR! Each work of art is painted with lots of love and care.

December 2014 I move back to my hometown of Vero Beach, Florida after living 17 years in NYC. As much as I love NYC, I am so happy to be back in Vero in the sunshine. I think my aesthetic really fits better in Florida than NY, though since I sell to people all over the country, I guess it really doesn't matter where I'm located!

Have a question or comment? Please do ask! Please heart my shop as a favorite and like me on facebook if you'd like to keep abreast of my work- www.facebook.com/faithjordan.artist. Thank you!!

About

Hope and Joy through Art

The name of my shop, "faithcolors" is a name my husband came up with. I think it suits my shop well, as my art is definitely filled with lots of vibrant color and quite obviously because my name is Faith. But the name also has a spiritual connotation we intended, because my faith in God is what gives meaning and hope to my life. I have been through a lot of illness over the last 20 years, but the Lord has sustained me in numerous ways, especially in giving me a husband right at the beginning of my illness who has supported me tremendously.

I think the art we create comes from who we are deep in our soul. I'm often told that my paintings are very happy and joyful. I am so glad that this optimism has because integral to my work. I don't always feel joyful on the outside, but deep inside I have a real assurance that everything is going to work out for the best and someday I will be in place where there is no pain or suffering.

I often get asked how I come up with ideas for my paintings. Sometimes they come from my imagination. Also, I like to just wing it sometimes and see what happens! But, I also collect images on Pinterest and Etsy to get ideas. Sometimes I take photographs of things that inspire me or use photos that my friends post on facebook. I have one friend from St. Croix and he takes beautiful pictures of the ocean there and he lets me use them. A large percentage of my ocean paintings are inspired by his photos.

I'll often look at several sources and take inspiration from different elements within other artist's work, but take my work in a different direction. I always want my work to be original and unique.

I use to spend a lot of time drawing out my ideas with tracing paper. It took several time-consuming steps that I don't bother with anymore. Now I just base coat my painting and then loosely draw out my idea with white chalk, or often I just paint without drawing anything out and pray for the best!

Creating art is not all creme puffs and apple sauce. I get frustrated at times. I have thousands of images pinned in Pinterest, yet sometimes can't figure out a single thing to paint! Other times I have more ideas than I can get started on. And, being an artist you spend a lot of time on other things than just your actual art. This includes taking good photos of my work, editing those photos, making Etsy listings, maintaining a website, wiring my paintings, doing quarterly taxes, keeping track of inventory, buying supplies, packing and shipping them when I have a sale. It is a real job and takes a lot of work.

But I'm passionate about painting and I am grateful to able to do something that I like. I would like to someday expand to selling at outdoor tent art shows, but I need more improvement in my health first. I have had the opportunity to show some where I live at galleries, various venues, and some local art club events.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me. May you be richly blessed by the Lord and have a life full of meaning and purpose!
