Nature Inspires...

For me, there is something very soothing about making ceramic art. Perhaps it's because of how strongly working with clay makes me feel connected to the earth, or maybe it's because exploring with clay brings me back to a more carefree time in life when I was a little girl and played with mud pies in our garden and built sand castles at the beach. My love of gardening and nature deeply inspires my clay work and challenges me to connect these two areas in creative ways. Whether I am using a potter’s wheel, or hand building with a clay slab, I feel compelled to incorporate designs and textures from nature into my pieces through carving, sgraffito, sculpture, sprigging and imprints. By combining these techniques, with a variety of different clay bodies, oxides and glazes, I try to create high quality, organically inspired ceramic treasures that are unique one-of-a-kind pieces of functional art. I hope you feel inspired by my work and find a piece that you feel a special connection to.

Recently, I became an empty nester & that new freedom has allowed me to reconnect with my love of pottery. The more I throw pots, hand build & sculpt, the more creative ideas I have, & the stronger my desire becomes to continue to explore with clay.

Frequently asked questions
Who makes the ceramics you sell?

My pottery is lovingly created with joy, great care and high attention to detail. Due to the handmade nature of my art, each item is always unique, although some pieces may be part of a numbered series of related artwork. Each piece of pottery starts out as either a slab of clay or wheel-thrown piece that is then carved or sculpted into special one of kind treasure.

What happens if an item arrives damaged during shipping?

I pack all of my items very carefully in recycled boxes so I can do my best to help preserve our environment. I protect them very well with a variety of packing materials so they arrive safely at your home. In the unlikely event you receive a damaged item, please email me detailed photos of the item and the packaging. I need these photos within 48 hours of receipt so I can open a claim with the shipper and send you a refund or replacement. Please do not throw out anything until you have heard back from me.

What happens if the item arrives and it is not the same as the photos in your shop?

Customer service is very important to me. I try to accurately describe each item, give measurements, & show photos. However, each computer may show a slightly different variation in color. If you believe your item is substantially different than my description, please email a note & photo within 48 hours of receiving your item. I am happy to accept a return or make an exchange, if the situation requires it. However, I must receive the item in original condition within 1 week of you receiving the package in order to issue you a refund or exchange. All shipping fees are non-refundable. Your return must be packed in the same manner I sent the piece, and insured with tracking. I am not responsible for returned items damaged or lost in transit.

What types of clay and glaze do you use?

I like to create high quality, pottery using stoneware clay which is fired to cone 10. This creates durable pottery that is dishwasher safe, oven-safe and microwaveable. The glazes I use are lead free and food safe. Please know that occasionally glazed pottery will have minor imperfections. At times there may be a pinhole or bubble in the glaze. Any minor imperfections will be noted in the listing and will not affect the functionality of the piece.

My purchase is a gift and I would like you to ship it directly to the recipient. Can you include a note to them?

Absolutely, just include this information in the "comment" section when you make your purchase.
