Fiona has definitely made herself at home! Exquisitely made, she is heirloom quality. I feel already that she is an heirloom! She is a pleasure to touch, and is full of creative detail. Couldn't be happier. I love Farburvur!

Crocheted Curiosity

Discovering I had a passion for fiber art while studying sculpture at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, my beginnings were in mixed media installation. My first fiber sculptures were large organic crochet forms that slowly progressed into representations of human and animal. I became interested in repurposing materials, old clothing, fabric, discarded or unwanted items.

Farburvur, my Etsy shop, is a collection of creatures, art dolls, objects, and other miscellanea. I love working with different fabrics and textures, picking up new techniques along the way and incorporating them in my designs. When I'm looking for inspiration I often reflect on things like symbology, folklore, and mythology. Most days if I'm not in the studio or burying my nose in a book I'm at the park watching beetles climb trees.

In my work I use techniques such as sewing, needle sculpting, crochet, and embroidery. I'm always exploring new ways to breath life into the materials I'm working with.
