About FarmandHearthTextile
she makes, therefore she is
I started farm&hearth textiles because I believe that how we make things is as important as what we’re making and what materials we are using. my goal is to make high quality products by hand that will last a lifetime. by choosing and carefully curating the materials I source and gather in Maine and the surrounding region, then thoughtfully designing useful yet beautiful products, I am looking to make sure that all of my handmade items are sustainable and environmentally friendly. each and every one of these products is made in a technique that is slow, time consuming and takes a great amount of care and expertise, which you can see & feel in the final products.
farm&hearth textiles is also focused on revitalizing craft, both weaving and knitting, and celebrating the knowledge and skill of the makers & crafters. our goal is to make viable & sustainable jobs that provide for the makers and fiber producers of Maine, because what we hand-make can define who we are & where our values lie. my goal is to be able to provide a resource to the local community educating about historic craft, in addition to fiber and textile art, & the value of thoughtful, hand-crafted products with an eye on regional socio-economics.
thank you for supporting us & coming along on this journey! - Laura of farm & hearth textiles
