About

We Raise Handspun Yarn!

Farm Genevieve began, unofficially, eight years ago when someone gave us a llama. Don't ask! We lived in the city at that time and, as you can imagine, moved to the country shortly thereafter. Izaak, our llama, was soon guardian of a small herd of Shetland sheep and Angora goats and a flock of 40 chickens, ducks, and geese.

You know how a roller coaster makes that initial steep climb? Well, that was our learning curve into the world of fiber animal husbandry. We are still learning every single day, but it is truly a labor of love and we've never ever looked back.

We do the shearing, spinning, and dyeing of the fiber ourselves. I use the fiber to make handspun yarn or handcrafted woolens and that's why I like to say at Farm Genevieve, we raise handspun yarn!

If you've never experienced the magical tactile qualities of humanely-raised fibers, I encourage you to do so. You will not regret it and the animals will thank you.

    Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator

I learned to embroider as a school girl and things spiraled out of control from there. I love to weave, knit, spin, and hang with my fiber animals. It wouldn't be an understatement to say that fiber is my life.

  • Steve Moon

    Right-Hand Man

I am responsible for everything fiber at Farm Genevieve, but Steve is the primary animal caretaker. That means his job starts at dawn and ends at dusk. He can vaccinate a goat or collect two dozen eggs in the blink of an eye.
