Such a cute and easy piece! I'll defined be putting it to use at Burning Flipside!! And I know I'll have to loan it out to my friends and family when I'm not wearing it. I hope I get it back! It's so sexy & fun, one of them might steal it!

About

Fibre Creatrix Weaves Gossamer Threads Through the Fabrics of a Timeless Age

A self-discribed desert wandering gypsy sun seeker who has been on the move for over half my life. Blessed to have traveled to many far off lands and my first trip to India (13 years ago) I met some lovely Nepalese men who made these simple felt pouches out of yak wool. I fell in love at first sight, igniting a fibre passion that has grown brighter and more refined every passing year!

Upon my return, I purchased raw wool rovings and taught myself to wet felt by hand. Over the years I learned the quality of different wools and other raw natural fibres, natural dying, nuno felting and many other trial and error lessons. I never took a fibre arts class but with much time, patience and a lot playing, I slowly learned how to "listen" to the fibres.

Each one of my felted creations are solely made by these two loving hands. A part of me goes into every piece I create...all the laughs, smiles, joy and tears...the whole sheebang! Every felted treasure is its own entity in terms of creation, colour, style and design. No two items are ever the same as I believe in the value of original, handcrafted eco-friendly wearable art.

I am so grateful to everyone for your inspiration, encouragement, love and support!!

Endless thanks and blessings,
Akaleka

My most amazing creative and crafty mother assists me in sewing some of the raw silk skirts and organic tops so I can focus on felting. She is a blessing and inspiration to me and grateful for her assistance in my business. Much love Mom!
