Announcement   Wanton whimsies for wildlings-- imaginative handmade gothic, witchy, Victorian jewelry inspired by dark fairy tales and folklore, Hammer Horror films, gothic novels and pagan ritual. I also offer lovingly refurbished antique and vintage finds that suggest their own dark histories.

All handmades are created one at a time in my little Victorian house in a cobblestone street in the shadow of the medieval walls of the city of York, where I'm serenaded by the hum of trains coming and going from the rail station and the howl of the Barghest prowling the snickleways of the ancient city.

Beautiful hand-craftmanship, and the shipping package was really special to open - a bit of dried lavender and a gorgeous purple crystal. Made me feel super special.

About

Linking Magic and Mayhem. One Bead at a Time.

I haven't always made jewellery. Once upon a time I worked in an investment bank in the City in London, and then I was a therapist in a hospice, and before that I was a painter and writing teacher.

I found myself in a strange land, having moved to the UK from the US, and like any good fairy tale, I had to use my cunning to get by. That was almost seven years ago. I now work in my little Victorian house, once the domicile of chocolate factory workers, in a cobblestone street in the shadow of the medieval walls of the city of York. When you stand in the right place on the city walls, this town looks like a jewelbox, a fairy castle. Here, I'm serenaded by the hum of trains coming and going from the rail station and the howl of the Barghest prowling the snickleways of the ancient city.

I work with fire polished and pressed Czech glass, Swarovski crystal and antiqued brass findings, often combining recycled fragments of vintage jewellery and rosaries. I also use pewter elements hand-cast by Green Girl Studios. Much of the lampwork glass I use is made by Luke of Wonky Beads in Wiltshire. I also use Tierra Cast findings, because their quality is unmatched.

My Etsy shop is primarily a one woman operation. I do it all from design to making the pieces, photographing and posting them. In a pinch, Sarah will model or help me cut wire for the hand-wrapped rosary style chain that is used in many of my designs.

I pride myself on making delicate, decadent whimsies for wildlings-- imaginative handmade jewelry inspired by dark fairy tales and folklore, Hammer Horror films, gothic novels and pagan ritual.

I value every customer, and always strive to answer queries the same day, and ship out the next if possible. All items come gift wrapped as well. I'll never forget the first time I saw someone while out and about who was wearing one of my designs! I didn't know her, but I felt like I'd seen a friend. I have a bit of that feeling every time I wrap up an order; that's why I love my job.

What my customers are saying:
"Great seller, very communicative, super fast shipping, and stunning jewelry. One of the best shops on Etsy." -Aliza C.

"Fast delivery and pretty wrapping and pouch. Lost for words, this is such a lovely necklace, perfect fit. The little bat has lots of detail, really sweet. If you love bats or like something a little unusual, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this lovely necklace. The Czech amethyst crystals are exquisite." - Jacqui D., UK

"...everything is beautiful ... you have magic hands!" --Sarah, Germany

Shop policies

Last updated on May 1, 2014
Hello, thank you for browsing my shop. I hope these policies will make the shopping experience easier.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I accept paypal and credit cards via Etsy's Direct Checkout system. Please pay within 3 days of purchasing an item.
Shipping
I ship internationally, and offer optional insurance if the buyer should request it. Please convo me if you would like the package insured and/or sent with a confirmation & signature on delivery and I will send you an updated total. Please know that at this time I do not ship to Brazil.

I will often use recycled packaging to ship items. All items are lovingly and securely placed in gift pouches and then gift wrapped and placed inside padded envelops or boxes.

The buyer is responsible for all customs fees, should any occur.

All items ship from the UK. If you live outside of Europe, your purchase will be shipped via Royal Mail Air Mail and will reach you in 10 days to 4 weeks (in rare cases). If you would like the item tracked within the UK and signed for, that service is 10 pounds. Tracked, expedited 3-day shipping is available for 51.00 pounds. If you would like either of these shipping upgrades, contact me before purchase and I will put up a special listing for you.

A note about custom orders. I welcome any request for a custom design and I love working with my customers to create something truly unique for them. Making a unique piece for a customer takes more time than my regular stock as the discussions and sourcing of materials specific to the piece are all important aspects of the process, so please know that that will be reflected in the price that is quoted. If I have never worked with you before, I may ask that half be paid up front and the other half on completion of the design. I am unable to accept returns on custom orders.
Refunds and Exchanges
I accept returns within one month of purchase. If there has been an error in the listing or if the item has been damaged in transit or through normal use, I will pay the return shipping costs and offer a full refund if notified of this within one month of purchase. Photographic evidence of damage will need to be provided. If the buyer has changed their mind and wishes to return an item, I will accept returns within one month of purchase. In cases where the buyer has changed their mind, the buyer will pay the return shipping costs and I will offer a refund of the item price.

If the item is lost in the post, I will post a replacement if possible, and if not I will refund the buyer the cost of shipping & item price.

I'm sorry that custom orders and items made with ritually cleansed quartz crystal can't be returned. Also, hair accessories can not be returned for hygiene reasons.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am happy to consider custom orders. Once we have decided on a design I will offer a quote with an estimated time frame and put up a listing. Once the listing is paid for in full I will begin work on your piece.

Repairs- if your piece should need repair within the first 3 months of normal wear, I will repair it free of charge. The owner will pay only for shipping it back and the return shipping. After 3 months of normal wear, should your piece be damaged, repairs will be charged based on my labor, time, materials and shipping costs.
