So much fun today creating this “trip around the world” doll quilt and matching pillows! I love the sweet combination of florals in this little quilt. It’s sure to bring many happy hours of playing.
Hand stitching the binding on this pretty little doll quilt. Finishing my items by hand is a detail that my customers deserve.
Finishing touches on this super cute, new print baby blanket! Extra soft flannel and these darling animals just make me smile blush

True Handmade

Welcome to Fern Ridge Farmhouse. After 20 years in the stained and fused glass industry (and many years on Etsy as Sunflower Glassworks) I have retired from glass and returned in a long-awaited burst of color, fabric and other materials to my roots in quilting and design. Part of that return was a long-distance move from sunny New Mexico to the big trees and coziness of my studio in Oregon.

My work as an artist has come full circle. I started sewing and designing as a teen, finding a quick market for the handmade items that I created. My sewing continued through college as I used it as a financial means to help earn two degrees, one of which was in fashion design. My journey continued post college as I designed stage costumes and (my personal favorite) designing wedding and attendant gowns. Eventually I set my sewing machine aside for a passion and career in glass but all that time, the fabrics were waiting for me to come back.

Quality and detail is paramount in the work I offer. I personally select every fabric or material I work with and check each step of my work with a critical eye. I lovingly handcraft every item in my shop with the inspiration of the feel and color of the fabrics and materials I work with. I am always on the lookout for fabrics that "speak" to me - it might be a certain color or print or the feeling I get from looking or touching the fabric. I love a good sale, but it's not paramount to getting the materials that I want. I also prefer to patronize small, locally owned businesses whenever possible to gather my materials.

My tagline, "True Handmade" comes from these qualities that I put into my work. Everything in this shop is made by hand, by me. You deserve to know what you're getting and who you are dealing with. My goal for 2020 is for the shop to reach 1000 five-star reviews and I'm happy to say I'm almost there.

January of this year marked my 10th year anniversary on Etsy! I am very fortunate to do what I love and have made a career out of selling my handcrafted goods around the world.

Frequently asked questions
How do you pack and ship items?

All items are packaged with great care to arrive in picture perfect condition. All items are securely boxed or in padded mailers for shipping using new packing materials from a smoke-free studio.

Our preferred shipping method is US Postal Service. We also use FedEx Ground and FedEx International shipping when requested or required. All shipments receive tracking numbers and insurance (when required) and you will receive a confirmation of shipping email from Etsy on the date of shipment.

What about damages?

Damages are infrequent but they must be reported within 48 hours of verifiable delivery confirmation, no exceptions. Please take photos of damage and packaging and contact me immediately. I will work with you to resolve the issue.

Orders $35 and over receive "free shipping" in your shop. What services are included in the "free shipping" offer?

Currently, free shipping methods include USPS First Class Mail and Priority Mail.

Free shipping does NOT include overnight, expedited or any other premium shipping or handling methods.

We are happy to make other accommodations:
Premium methods are available, but only by arrangement and additional fees. The amount that this shop would have paid to fulfill the "free shipping" offer will be deducted from requested premium shipping fees at market rate. Customer is responsible for paying the remaining balance to receive those shipping services under a separate Etsy invoice prior to shipping.
