I have been an artist for a very long time. Its something that lives within oneself and if you are lucky and focused, it will blossom into a career that blesses your life. Thats how I feel about my life so far. I was like so many girls, loved animals and was crazy about horses. I rode them, cared for them and drew them as a young girl. They were magical to me.

I also loved to sew and design clothing. As I entered my twenties I was fortunate to be good at fashion design, manufacturing and selling to stores. I did this for nine years. This is when I truly learned about color. I designed many of my fabric prints and created colors for my line such as mango, papaya and tropical batik. Its also when my life led me back to my childhood love for horses. They were calming to my spirit as my business was many wonderful things, but never calm. I cared for and exercised polo ponies and had two horses of my own.

I truly enjoyed the fashion industry but craved a more peaceful life style. I was soon married and had a family and as the economy went into recession, I closed my business.
As soon as my child entered school so did I. A local community college had an excellent art program and I signed up. Painting, life drawing, I enjoyed them all and realized I had a knack for painting. I had exhibited watercolor landscape paintings a decade earlier and now wanted to express my passion for painting in the drawing medium of pastel, and painting in oil on canvas. I truly love both mediums for different reasons. Pastels are so tactile, blending with my fingertips. Truly beautiful effects can be achieved by layering many colors. Each particle of pastel really sparkle in the light. Oil paint is opaque or translucent, can be painted thick or thin, with a palette knife or paint brush. It has a richness that is so beautiful.
I participate in Art shows throughout the year and show in several galleries. My paintings are in private collections Nationally and Internationally.

When one is painting and expressing as an artist it is important to paint what speaks to your heart. Realizing this is what led me to be a painter of animals and especially horses.
I am blessed to be in the company of animals and of horses. I still ride fairly often, hang out with them and photograph them in preparation for paintings of my client's horses. I enjoy this part of my life and I love being a mom. Thankfully I get to do both.
