Welcome to the result of years of practice and many failures. I am finally able to say that I would actually enjoy drinking out of these mugs, eating cereal out of the bowls and displaying the vases.
It feels good to be intimately connected to the work of my own hands. It seems that something is lost when we buy things that are a result of product alienation. We have been completely alienated from our identity as creators and growers who are made in the image of the ultimate creator. We have exchanged that identity for the identity of button presser, lever puller and consumer. Through this work I hope to begin closing the gap between the person and the artifact. Every piece has been touched, molded and designed by my wife and me as well as being influenced by the suggestions of friends and family.
I once read a scientific study in which it was found that holding a warm beverage increases generosity. Not only are folks more willing to donate time and money, but they are also more generous with their judgement of a person's character. That is inspiring to me and I want to be a part of it. This is, and we are, a work in progress.
Thank you for taking a look.

5 out of 5 starsI love the look and feel of this carafe!! So much cooler than the glass ones. I'm really happy with this, and might have to get the green one at some point.

About FIBERandCLAYshop
We are embarking on an adventure with a couple of goats and some clay.
My wife and I live in rural Kansas and have a small tribe of angora goats. We love the created as well as creating with our hands and feel it is an integral part of living our lives to the fullest. We have hopes of someday making an honest living doing the things we love and feel most passionate about. Here is where we start: fiber & clay.

I appreciate your interest. Take a look around and buy the things you like. Let's be honest, though; you don't need any of this stuff. However, if you like to support small business, if you like the idea of knowing who made your products, or if you simply want to help put food in the mouths of my many pets, fill up that cart with pottery and mohair. If you don't find something you like, check back. This is a work in progress and there is much much more to come.
Speaking of more to come; there will be freshly shorn and washed mohair fleeces posted in the near future. We own 5 Angora goats and we look forward to selling you their incredibly soft fibers for your spinning and felting pleasure.

Most items in this store are made out of clay. If an item breaks, I am so very sorry, but I would be happy to sell you a new one. I sincerely hope that the items you buy end up being family heirlooms. If there is any question about the initial integrity of a broken piece, please let me know.
