I'm so glad to have an on-line shop where customers can come to find the out-of-the-ordinary!

Many of the items in my shop reflect the combination of hand- with loom-manipulated threads. The layered application of sprang, an ancient technique, with traditional loom-weaving is exclusive to my work. The unique hourglass motif represents time, and reminds us to slow down, reflect and enjoy Creation.

Why do I weave? To tell about what moves me: that quality of light in the moments between early evening or in early autumn, or the total immersion in the moment when I make music or dance. In weaving I observe rhythm, a movement in time and space that touches me in the same way. Coming from an engineering background, I am fascinated by the mathematical beauty formed by the interlacing of threads, and even in the planning and threading of a woven project.

Weaving, spinning and dyeing since the late 1980s, I've tried many different types of weaves, making home textiles, clothing and accessories. Along the way I've come to realize that although I really enjoy figuring out how to get the loom to do complicated things for me, I also love working with yarn and fiber in my hands; a project never seems complete until it has some handwork as well as the loom-woven cloth. Since 2010, I have been experimenting with ways of integrating the hand-worked element more directly into the fabric, often working the hand-manipulation while the cloth is still on the loom.
