About

It all started one summer 6 years ago

About 6 years ago Fi spent a summer in field school and camping in British Columbia where she started to learn how to knit thanks to the patience of a couple of cohorts. She knit her first baby blanket and scarves that fall and hasn't looked back! Knitting brings her peace and relaxation so she always makes sure to have a project on her needles.

A few years later the experiments with dyeing her own yarn began and it was so much fun, she shared it with her mother Jody. Jody has a background in fine arts and was immediately drawn into the world of fiber and dyeing. Within a couple years the two decided it was time to give indie dyeing a shot so this is where you see the shop now. Things grew from a knit objects store in 2014 to what it is now which is a reflection of our love of color and experimentation.

We do a lot of OOAK (one of a kind) but have been venturing into creating repeatable colorways - so keep your eyes peeled!

We hope you enjoy what you see and please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have through the shop!

Frequently asked questions

When will my order ship?

We ship M-F, excluding US federal holidays when USPS is closed.

Most orders received by 5pm PST will ship by the next business day, M-F. Most orders placed by 12 pm PST will ship same day (excluding made-to-order listings). Orders received after 12 pm PST on Friday will not ship until Monday.

I used the wrong address on my order, what can I do?

Please contact us immediately through the shop (not via email).

If your order has not yet shipped, we can correct the shipping information to the updated address.

If your order has shipped, we cannot change the address. Should this situation arise, we will refund the order when it is returned to us via USPS. The cost of shipping is non-refundable and we are not responsible for orders not returned by USPS.

Please note that any order changes can delay shipping time by a day.

Can you combine orders?

We are happy to do this for you assuming they have not already been packed and postage printed. We will not automatically combine orders, you must contact us through the shop (not via email) to request orders be combined. If you do not, your orders will be packed and shipped separately.

Upon packaging the combined orders, we will refund any shipping overages via your method of payment.

Please note that a request to combine orders already placed can delay shipping time by a day.

Do I need to worry about your yarn bleeding?

While we do everything to make sure the dyes are exhausted (completely absorbed by the fiber), and go through a thorough rinsing, some extra dye particles can occasionally cling to the fiber, which may color the water when you go to soak items in warm water/wool wash. However, this small amount of color should not dye the yarn or come off on your fingers. For the best care taking of handmade items we recommend using cool water to soak and laying FO flat to dry.
