Fibers 'n' Creations uses high quality locally sources fleeces for producing functional art, fiber and accessories

I love to knit, spin, make felt from wool and generally work with wool and other natural fibers. With a full-time job away from the home there just weren’t enough hours in the day for all my fiber projects. However now that I
have retired from my life in science I am able to devote a lot more time to the the next chapter of my life which is to include producing all things fiber for Fibers 'n' Creations.
Natural fibers have always been my fiber of choice, and I"ll be using them primarily for items made for fibers 'n' creations. If it is yarn it will all have been made by me from my own sheep, local sheep or spin at a mill using local sheep fleece or other fiber animals
Currently I have five sheep, Elsie a finn x; Elwyn and Enid who are Clun forest x Border Leicester and Barnard and Bowes, who are Teeswater sheep. They have very different fleeces, which is ideal for my fiber needs. The majority of my products will be what is considered functional art work. I am seeking to emphasis some of the many qualities of wool-which to mention just a few are insulating, water retaining, resilience. Wool is ideal for trivets and hot pads due to it's amazing insulating properties. It is wonderful for making dryer balls as it 'pulls water' out of the laundry whilst in the dryer, thus reducing drying time. It is a good filler for pillows as certain breeds produce a very springy fiber.
Some years ago I had a dog with an amazing undercoat which started my interest in chiengora (dog hair). I enjoy working with the exotic fibers; chiengora, cat hair, alpaca and llama. These fibers are usually blended with wool to provide a more durable product. That said, alpaca and llama can be good alternatives for people with allergies to wool, and of course in those circumstances I would make the item from 100% alpaca or llama. I will consider custom work with certain dog and cat breeds (don't need to be purebred)as many have wonderful undercoats that spun up into a lovely soft fiber. If you have a dog or cat that you would like to “wear” and be the most admired human in town please contact me.
Setting up my shop at Etsy and my website is an adventure into new territory for me, some of which is fun, and other parts rather frustrating and challenging, but such is life and I'm making progress slowly.
I very much look forward to make things for you to enjoy, so I hope you will check my shop regularly and will find things you like. If you like something but the color or size is not what you need let me know and I'll try my best to meet your needs, but please remember that each item is unique. If you are looking for something and don’t see it again please let me know. I am willing to do custom work. My main goals are to generate high quality products and give excellent customer service so please give me feed back as to how I"m doing.
Thanks for visiting my shop on Etsy.

    Payment
Etsy now offers easy, direct payment with a credit card.

I also accept Etsy Gift Cards.

No items will be shipped until payment has cleared.

For custom made items I require 100% of the payment prior to starting the item.

New York State residents need to add sales tax to their order.

If you live outside the USA and place an order you the buyer will be responsible for duties, taxes and any additional fees related to importation.
    Shipping
I take orders from many places in the world. For USA orders I generally ship USPS priority mail and as long as I have the item available I try to ship within 5-7 days.

    FOR USA SHIPPING
Priority mail should get to you in about 3 days depending on your location. The cost will be at the current USPS/Etsy rate.
If you prefer 1st class mail, I will weigh the package (including wrapping) to calculate shipping cost and if I over charge you by $1 or more I will refund it to you. If you order more than one item I will determine the total weight and hence total shipping cost. If you have specific shipping needs we can discuss this at time of ordering.
Unfortunately I will have to charge for envelopes/packing, and when this is considered, the cost of 1st class mail is often not much less than priority mail.
    FOR CANADA SHIPPING.
I will use USPS for shipping and usually 1st class unless the customer prefers Priority International. Rates will be the current USPS/Etsy rates. As the items have to go through customs at the US/Canadian border please take this into consideration if you are wanting the item for a specific date. There is no way to predict how long something may take to clear customs. Please note as stated in Payment Policy that you the buyer will be responsible for customs taxes and any related fees.
Unfortunately I will have to charge for envelopes/packing.
    FOR GREAT BRITAIN SHIPPING
I will use USPS for shipping and usually 1st class unless the customer prefers Priority International. Rates will be the current USPS/Etsy rates. The items have to go through customs on entry into Great Britain. Please take this into consideration if you are wanting the item for a specific date as there is no way to predict how long something may take to clear customs. Please note as stated in Payment Policy that you the buyer will be responsible for customs taxes which can be quite high, and any related fees.
Unfortunately I will have to charge for envelopes/packing.

I ship to the address that appears on your Etsy payment form.

I try to be environmentally aware and therefore use recycled packaging when possible.

Custom orders will take longer and you will be contacted regarding estimated time of completion and shipping date.

I cannot be responsible for shipping damages or loss.
    Additional policies and FAQs
If you are concerned about allergies please be aware I do have dogs and they are with me when I work.
Please contact me with any questions about shipping, additional photos, details, etc. If you see something you like but would prefer a different color, fiber or size please let me know and I'll try to help. Each item is unique, so if you request an item you see in my shop for example in a different color, there may be other difference in the item I make for you.
