About

I have been climbing Fibre Mountains forever

The climbing began with my grandmother teaching me to knit when I was in grade two. Then I started embroidery. At that time women still embroidered tea towels and pillow cases. My cousins thought I was nuts. But my picture of the embroidered horses still hangs in my bedroom. By the time I was 15, I could sew clothes that I would actually wear. Then in the 80s I learned to weave and spin.

A few years ago I became interested in sewing items made from thrift store finds. You will find some of these creations in my shop. I am sure that, in a previous life, I was a South American weaver. I love and buy all sorts of tribal art and embroidery that I use in my work.

And then, I discovered kimonos and their wonderful silk and I was hooked. There are many types of kimono silk, all lovely, soft and flowing. Because they are all used or vintage, they sometimes have pinholes and small stains. If the fabric is weak (usually only the linings), I do not use it. I try very hard to eliminate all the stains but some sneak past me. I hope you understand.

=== For those outside of Canada and US, please also read the section "***DUTY, TAX, VAT***"
=== I will ship it the next business day but I can't promise how long the actual shipping will take as that is outside of my control.
=== I will refund any shipping overage of $1.00 or more.
===If you can pickup your item in Regina, I will refund your shipping cost.

Please also read *** RETURNS & REFUNDS - Part two ***
to see what happens when post office returns your item to me.

***PROCESSING TIME***

I plan to ship within 1 business day after receiving your payment. In the rare case that is not possible, I will contact you about the delay.

This processing time does NOT include the shipping time.

***HANDWASHING INSTRUCTIONS FOR SCARVES AND SHAWLS***

1. Hand wash and rinse in lukewarm water using a gentle soap like Woolite. Add about 2 tablespoons of white vinegar to the last rinse. Do not soak in order to avoid colour bleeding. Wring out loosely to reduce creases.
2. Place very neatly on a towel. Roll up the towel. Let sit 1 minute.
3. Hang to dry in the shade.
4. Iron on your lowest steam setting.

METALLIC THREADS: Use a pressing cloth for items with metallic threads.
SHIBORI: Shibori items need to be handled very carefully in order to keep their texture. In the wash and rinse keep the agitation to a minimum and wring the water out super gently. When ironing, do not press the iron down. Rather let the iron hover just above the fabric. You want to steam not press.

***UPCYCLED CONDITION***

I try to always use top quality material. If a stain or flaw sneaks past me into a finished product, I either don't list it, or if the damage is very minor, I note that at the end of the description. If you are disappointed with the item, please feel free to return it.

I do several different things to remove the smell. If they don't work, I don't use that material. I have noticed that the odour comes back when it is washed. But once it is dry, the smell disappears again. Also silk naturally has its own smell that comes out when wet.

***Do you smoke or have pets?***

No, my home is pet and smoke free.

***COMMUNICATIONS***

All communications should go through Etsy.

If you want to contact me do one of the following:
A. If you are in one of my listings, click the "ask a question" button on the right hand side
B. If you are on my shop's home page, click the "contact" button under the shop owner close to the top right hand side.

To see my answer, sign on to Etsy, click on "you" on the top right hand side, then click on "conversion". You can reply directly from there.

***DUTY, TAX, VAT***

If you are outside of Canada, your country may add duty, tax, VAT, etc which you will have to pay before your package can be delivered.

I understand that EU customers are used to having VAT included in the purchase price. But as a Canadian, I have no way to collect it. So your government will add it as part of the delivery process.

Etsy usually adds the statement "VAT included (where applicable)" during the checkout process. Please note VAT included is NEVER applicable for my shop as explained above.

Thank you for understanding this and knowing you will have to pay VAT when the item is delivered.

*** RETURNS & REFUNDS - Part two ***

In the very rare occasions where the post office returns your item to me, I refund the cost of your item minus the amount the post office charges me for the return. Plus I do not refund any shipping cost.

This may happen because:
- You gave me the wrong address
- You did not pay the duty, tax, VAT, or other fees added by your
government or post office
- You refused the parcel for any reason.

For other information on returns, please read ***RETURNS & REFUNDS***
