You are such a talented artist! The quality of the print, the detail in the images, and the special shipping request- it was all perfect!

About

MAGGIE RUTHERFORD

I am a Seattle, Washington-based artist, and the Pacific Northwest landscape is a huge influence on my art. Working primarily in watercolor and gouache, I create illustrations that are inspired by nature, the cycles of the seasons, and the delicacy of small, domestic moments. Lush landscapes, birds and critters of the region, and scenes from my garden all find their way into the illustrations I create. I want my work to reflect the power and presence of the natural world around me, celebrating not only nature's grand moments but also its dear and intimate details.

I get many of the ideas for my paintings while taking long walks throughout my neighborhood--it's the best way for me to think, dream, and process my days! I translate these ideas into messy pen drawings in my sketchbook, then clean them up, transfer them to watercolor paper, and coax them alive with color.
