About FieldandForestDesign
The Story of Field and Forest
I have always loved to create and be crafty. After years of wanting to do start an Etsy shop but not having the focus or time I finally set out to make it happen in 2014. I have been practicing calligraphy and hand lettering since January of 2014. At first I wanted to do prints, but kept running into walls with the digital side of things. After trying numerous things I finally found my niche painting.
The Field and Forest's name comes from the hymn "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee":
"Field and forest, vale and mountain,
flowery meadow, flashing sea,
Singing bird and flowing fountain
call us to rejoice in Thee."
Each of the designs in my shop are original. I sketch them out on paper until I get them to look how I want. Once the design is complete, I transfer it onto wood and hand paint it. I love the hands-on process.
95% of the wood that we use is reclaimed. One of our signatures is the reclaimed soda tabs that we use for hangers on the back.
My desire to start this shop and our family's journey towards adoption have coincided and at this time, we are using all of the money from sales to fund our adoption. Once our son is home, he will need multiple surgeries and we will continue to use these funds for that. It is my desire to eventually use this shop to support orphan care in some way. I have ideas and dreams. We will see what happens...

Owner, Creator, Designer
I am a stay-at-home mom and owner Field & Forest Design. I have been practicing calligraphy and hand lettering since early 2014. I design and hand letter each piece on paper, then paint it onto reclaimed wood.
Shop policies
Every item in our shop is handmade.
100% of the profit from this shop is going towards our family's adoption.
All quotes are original designs. They are first hand lettered and designed on paper and then painted onto reclaimed wood.
99% of the wood used is reclaimed. It was either destined for a landfill or fallen in the woods.
